picked up some takeout for the wife last night at this place. she got the gnocchi in cream tomato sauce, i had a bite and it was excellent. She got the pizza bread as well, which is just pizza dough cut into bread sticks, tried a bit of that and was very tasty as well. its on el camino real just west of newport.

Yes... this is on of our go-to places for Italian food.

The other is Tutto Famiglia in Lake Forest (but they are bit pricey).

Funny how there is no family-owned Italian in Irvine (unless someone's last name is Garden).

Their eggplant parmigiana is on point too!

After this, run across the street to Cream Pan for dessert :)

yeah i would have except trying to lose weight. not all us were born with the skinny asian gene. but i was born with the mexican "bat" gene.

Went to this place once.  Did not like their eggplant.  It wasn't cooked well, and EP has to be cooked well go be good.  I like Peppinos / Lake Forest, Fianos / San Juan Capistrano and Jack's / Dana Point for EggPlant Parm.  Three that are the best!!  I'm from NJ so I know my EPP!!
