USC have you tried the new KFC Chicken Sandwich?  It's comparable to Popeyes.  Get some KFC sauce on the side to dip the sandwich in, pretty good.

I have and I didn't like it, it was kinda dry and very MEH compared to the Popeye's chicken sandwich.

A Popeye's in Irvine? That's funny

I think a Popeye's in Irvine would make a lot of money.  I went to the one in Yorba Linda on Saturday around 2:30pm and the drive-thru line was at least 12 cars deep so I just drove on.  Anyone want to open a Popeye's in Irvine with me (I have no restaurant experience)?  haha

I agree.  Popeye will do really well around here.  However, knowing Irvine, I bet City of Irvine won't approve Popeye fast food franchise in Irvine.  Probably have to be in neighborhood cities like Santa Ana, Tustin, Costa Mesa, or Lake Forest.

Mah Jongs by Chef Mike at south coast plaza

Recently went here and would definitely recommend. It?s one of the new restaurants at the collage by Bloomingdales. It?s been open for about 3 weeks. It?s kind of interesting because the name/decor is Chinese but the food is more traditional/American

The burger here is excellent and they give you a complementary cheesecake/cream cheese stuffed beignet covered in caramel drizzle.

Looks like there will be a Bruxie here as well.

Yoshiharu Ramen coming to Orchard Hills Shopping Center. Never heard of them but they have multiple locations in SoCal. They better bring their best given all the local competition: Kitakata, HiroNori, Shinsengumi, Santouka etc...

Yoshiharu Ramen opened few weeks ago.  Ramens are pretty good.

I went to South Coast many times recently and didn't even know "The Collage" existed.

@cares - you need to stop shopping at Saks and go to the cheaper side of the mall.

There is also the hall global eatery closer to claimjumper

Haven?t tried this place though

Waba grill, which is kind of like flamebroiler opened up a couple of weeks ago on walnut/Newport in Tustin. Twhat place has had like 10 Mexican restaurants, let?s see if waba sticks

I actually prefer Waba over Flamebroiler (there was one I used to go to in Lake Forest across from The Hat... not sure if it's still there).

Speaking of Bruxie, I noticed last night that the old Bruxie on Culver/Walnut has been replaced by a Fire Wings (I'm assuming still under construction). Never eaten there before.

Buffalo Wild Wings and Fire Wings in the same plaza should be fun for them both.
