Retail Openings and Closures

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
So some additions to Marketplace:

Texas de Brazil is coming in at the On the Border location.  AYCE Brazilian BBQ.  Looks good but the prices *_*  According to the website, the Las Vegas location charges $31.99 for weekday lunch and $49.99 for dinner/weekend.  The location in Utah (SLC) is charges $42.99 for dinner (apparently no lunch).  The San Antonio branch is also dinner only at $44.99.

For $100, my wife and I can split a steak, a house salad, and some sides at Mastro's!

A new burger bar:  Hopdoddy is coming to the Tustin side.

When it does open, expect the burgers to cost the same, if not similar to the Newport Beach location, which ranges from $7.25 for a Classic (Angus beef, red leaf lettuce, white onion, beef steak tomato, sassy sauce) to $13.25 for the Ahi Tuna Burger (sushi-grade tuna, sprouts, teriyaki, honey wasabi, nori chips, pickled ginger, mayo).

I guess...I will stick with my In-n-out or Habit thanks.

I've eaten at Hopdoddy when I was in Austin earlier this year.  Their burgers are good but the truffle fries are to die for.

Sign up for Texas de Brazil's email club. They have deals all the time. They just had a buy a $100 gift card, get $25 extra bonus that ended last week. For the week of Veteran's Day (Mon - Thurs), they had half off dinners. They have a $10 off dinner offer for 1/4 - 1/7/16.

They had a VIP card available last March, for $60 you get 50% off 12 dinners (Sun - Thurs). I believe they do this every year.

I'm starting to hate buffets, bad experience at Caesars bacchanal, $55 per person and with horrible service, long waits and subpar food.  Worse was the $20/child, that's just robbery.

Agora is pretty decent. I believe weekday lunch is $30ish. Dinners and wkends are slightly higher.

Went to Cafe Rio today. Way more seating than Jalapenos but that's because they used half the space as kitchen.

I still miss Jalapenos... the barbacoa is just too sweet at Cafe Rio.

Looks like Dickey's BBQ is opening next door where the waffle place used to be. Not sure how well eateries do in this center but it's nice to see everything occupied again.

The food must be good if the Health Department is issuing violations. That's worth an extra star on Yelp for Asian restaurants ;)

Macy's closure is in full swing.

People are descending on the sales racks.

20160111_121320.jpg

But it's not very easy to make a purchase.

20160111_130949.jpg

I tried to keep the pics here small. But the sign says to visit the register at Tommy Hilfiger or Cosmetics. I guess nobody reads these signs because there were long lines everywhere except Cosmetics. [continued...]

... Want to try something on? Too bad. The dressing room is closed.

20160111_131001.jpg

The few registers that are open are like 10 people deep. But not Cosmetics. That's where I made my purchases. I also decided to make eye contact with people in the long lines and smile. If they smiled back, I told them there were no lines in Cosmetics. No wait at all. Help yourself. About 4 people responded and got helped immediately. They were really happy.

... Expect the store to be in disarray. There was stuff laying on the floor in every department. No employees could be found except a few ringing people up. If you have questions, too bad. It looks like almost everybody was already let go. One lady approached me to ask where "we" keep the swimsuits. I had to tell her I don't work here.

20160111_134837.jpg

A random shopper approached me and started saying how the deals aren't that great and how there were better deals before Christmas with 40% and 50% off. She is right. Most things were 20% off and there were NO deals in the beauty department. I found out from the cosmetic employee ringing me up that all cosmetics, perfume, etc. inventory will be shipping to the other stores, hence, no discounts. However, that didn't stop some people from filling up gigantic bags with merchandise. Again, no great deals to be found here. I bought a few things but didn't get the urge to "stock up" unlike these people. The 3 adults couldn't even carry everything to the car.
