Recommendations for Contractor to Install Ceiling Fans?

Hi all,

We are looking for any recommendations for a contractor to install ceiling fans in a few of our bedrooms. Our home is not pre-wired, and I have been quoted $250/room by a contractor that we have worked with before. I wanted to get a few more bids before we went ahead with the work, so if you have someone that you would recommend, please let me know. Thank you!
 
I've used Ace Electric (http://aceoc.com) in the past.  Ceiling fan, no pre-wire, hookup to remote (not switch) was around $200/225 I believe.

I called the following companies and were quoted the following:
(1) Install My Lights - $235/room
(2) Ace - $250-$275/room
(3) Johnny's Electric - $238/room ($149 for a remote-controlled fan + $89 for wall switch control)
(4) Armes - $250-300/room

I don't think that includes electrical.

For Install My Lights, I think they use the least invasive installation. Did you ask them about what they do to the ceiling/drywall and if they patch/paint?
 
While on this topic anyone know where to purchase larger than the normal size (found at HD/ lowes) ceiling fans?
We want a larger span one for our family room with the taller ceilings - where is a good place to look for these larger fans?

Used these guys for my ceiling fan installs and recommend them.  They are very clean and efficient.  Also had another electrician check the job later and said they did a very good job. 

They patch/texture, but don't paint.  If your walls aren't white, you'll need to repaint yourself.

I don't know if there's anywhere local you can go see these huge 60"+ fans, but lots of online retailers have them.

I have that one.  its a good one.
Minka aire (http://www.minkagroup.net/minka-aire/fans) has other options for 60"+. Another fave of mine is modern fan company (http://www.modernfan.com/products/). The torsion for example offers blades 60+. Bigass fans (http://www.bigassfans.com/for-home/haiku/) also has them. The haiku comes in 52, 60 and 84.

Ylighting (http://www.ylighting.com/ceiling-fans.html) has more brands. Not sure you can search by blade size though. You can research there. Some can be purchased from amazon.

You know - I actually did not ask them about the ceiling and drywall, although I asked one of the other contractors that I called. I'll have to get back in touch with Install My Lights to inquire.

Just so you know, I got 3 bids from InstallMyLights, an electrician and a general contractor. While price-wise they were all close to each other, what they actually do varied.

IML had the least invasive, they try to only put one opening where the fixture will be.

The electrician said he had to cut lines into the ceiling drywall and then patch them.

The contractor said he would remove the portions of the ceiling drywall and put in new drywall.

Sorry for reviving this thread but wanted to give a quick update. I have been unable to get through to InstallMyLights (I keep getting their answering service) but all of the electricians that I have called have all advised that, since these fans are going into bedrooms on the 2nd floor, and since we have attic access, the holes that they create will be very small, and will not require any drywall patching and/or painting.

I'm going to try InstallMyLights a few more times, but the best price I've gotten thus far is from Johnny Electric, since the fan we purchased ended up being one that has to be controlled by a remote (i.e., the installation will not require the fan to be controlled by a wall switch). All of the other installers charge the same price (in the $235+ range) to install the ceiling fan, regardless of whether you need it controlled by a wall switch or not, whereas Johnny charges $149 for ceiling fan only + $89 for the wall switch. He also has a 4.5 star rating on Yelp (based on 48 reviews).
 
One of my buddies got big ass fans in his house and loves them. They tie into the Nest Thermostats, which are awesome to regular the temperature in your home. Also if you get a Harmony remote they tie into that as well. I don't think they are the best looking fans but they seem to do the job. I have other fans in all my rooms.
 
Brushing the cobwebs off this thread. Has anyone done a ceiling fan installation on a high ceiling? I'm talking ~17-18ft that would require scaffolding to get to. I tried Install My Lights but they only do it if they are also doing lights (which I don't need).
