Recommendation on Tile job in house

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I have a guy coming out to give a quote on a complete master bath tile overhaul.  I will let you know how it goes.
My wife says he looks like a bad "$#%" so hopefully his work is too!  :D

Eric@Venetian recommended Keith from Kohler Tile to me.  Anyone here have their work done by Keith?

If Venetian recommends him, Im sure he is decent. (Word gets around, it's all about reputation in this industry) Meet him and get a FREE estimate.

So who ever you choose, I recommend for you to go with that person to buy the materials.
Another tip, I went to Lowes with the contractor to buy the grout, tile etc. The reasons behind that is because: Lowes and HD hours open early and late compared to small stores, and the main reason is if you have extra tile - you can return it with no questions ask. If you buy your material from a small store they have a strict return policy or no return policy. BUT small shops have more exotic/fancy selections to choose.

Contractors, builders, handymans etc. make extra margin/profit on jobs when they provide the materials. In addition, they usually require a deposit for the material which I would avoid - because that's when you hear stories how they skip town/never show up.

For small jobs - I used Lowes or HD. Both are comparable in prices and quality. I had the following installed: new sliding door for bathroom, bathroom fan, garbage disposal, chain drive motor garage system. They did the job no bs, which I like. Also- the jobs came with a warranty.

I'm debating whether to go with Keith from Kohler Tile or Tompkins Flooring.  Going with Tompkins will limit me to purchase tiles from them.  And I think their pricing on Tile is much higher than Tile stores, e.g., Floor & Decor.  But them do a store that I can go to when there is problem after the job.

Ask them to price match the tiles.  If they don't, go with someone else.

I called Keith...he gave me a quote based on the model home over the phone.  It was so informal and casual and it didn't give me the warm and fuzzies when I talked to him.  IF you go with him let me know how it goes.
