IR2, my broker is physically located in Bellevue, WA but has licenses in 9 states now (including California).  He and 6 managing brokers are always readily available 24/7 either via cell phone, email, or the online portal.  I believe there are over 500 agents now in the fold.  He employes a online/virtual platform for training, client contact management, transaction tracking, and other dashboard functions.  Commissions are paid within 24-48 hours once all required documents are submitted to the transaction management part of the portal.  There is a local executive suites office in Irvine can that be used as needed and where mail can be sent.  In terms of cost, there is a monthly fee to hang your license (E&O insurance is covered with that fee) along with a variable per transaction cost.  He also offers agents the ability to buy leads for those who are interested.
