[quote author="awgee" date=1250795671]The Coto Gates

On the one hand, at the end of my work day and commute, when I drive through those gates, the rush rush crazy world is left behind. IMO, Coto is beautiful. I instantly relax when I drive through those gates.

On the other hand, they seem elitist. And you have to remember to put your friends name on the gate site.

I always get a kick out of gated communities... I've found very few that I can't get in... the gates are only as strong as the minimum wage guy manning it. In most cases waiving and pretending an opener isn't working will do just fine...

So dumb one... do the Coto gates/security keep out the idiots who put crap on your door? Honestly, that's my #1 reason for wanting a gate (that and the Teen Challenge / vacuum cleaner sales tards)... so that the front of my house isn't littered on every day by landscapers, real estate agents, restaurant ads, window installers, etc etc... When I was single, I kept a box by the front of my door (on the inside)... every day I took the crap on my door and put it in the box. When the box was full (about 6 months), I went to the poor local store who happened to be the one who was on top of the box when it was full... I went in, asked to see the owner... dumped my box all over their floor. Dude said, "What the hell are you doing throwing stuff all over my floor?" I pull out his ad, hand it to him and said, "exactly. Why is it ok if you leave stuff on my door that I don't want? I did this once. Go through that pile and I've probably got 10 ads from you. Imagine if several customers a day did this to you. Now you know how I feel." and walked out.

I make it policy to not do business with anyone who leaves crap on my driveway/door/etc.

Try Irvine Cove in Laguna Beach, they practically hold your hand all the way to the door.
