President Trump

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program

I wonder if this meeting on Friday morning at the Hay Adams Hotel had anything to do with the direction that Zelensky took during his meeting with Trump. There are many in our government that do not want the war to end. While much has been said about the benefits of a continued war to defense contractors, little has been said about the desire to see a regime change in Russia. Having the US as a joint venture partner in various mining/oil operations would be a de facto security arrangement as mentioned above. Why would Zelensky insist on having US military on the ground in Ukraine? Marco Rubio made a comment on his CNN interview about certain people wanting this war to last another year so as to wear Russia down. Is it part of this regime change plan?

Europe won't commit troops without US troops also participating. That's why Zelinskyy wanted a US troop commitment.

Had he taken the mining deal, US contractors would be considered enough of.a "red line" keeping Russia from further expanding their Ukrainian territory grab. It's a "soft power" move that was lost on Zelinskyy, a man who doesn't realize he's in no position to negotiate a return of seized land.

A missed opportunity on an epic scale. Zelinskyy F'd around, and is going to find out soon how big a mistake that was once Kiev is overrun.

I like this discussion of global dynamics vs partisan politics.

This is very interesting.

I thought the mining deal was done. Did something change?

Honda Yanks Production Of One Of Its Top Cars From Mexico After Tariffs: Report

The move would be the first from a Japanese automaker over Trump's announced tariffs.

TOKYO, March 3 (Reuters) - Honda (7267.T), opens new tab has decided to produce its next-generation Civic hybrid in the U.S. state of Indiana, instead of Mexico, to avoid potential tariffs on one of its top-selling car models, according to three people familiar with the matter.

The change underscores how manufacturers are scrambling to adapt to U.S. President Donald Trump's proposed 25% tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada. While several automakers have expressed concerns about the levies, Honda's move is the first concrete measure by a major Japanese car company.

How Trump’s Suddenly Secure Border Forever Debunks Dem Immigration Theories

Neither the border nor the “immigration system” were ever “broken.”

The Scam ‘Senate Bill’

Start with the most emblematic of these bait-and-switch ideas, the “bipartisan Lankford senate bill.” Democratic Party presidential nominee Kamala Harris relentlessly sold this piece of legislation to the American public as the only possible panacea to control the border. Trump and Republicans had the bill killed, which set the stage for Harris and many Democrats running for office to promise its resurrection as a central plank of the party’s immigration policy platforms.

Digging Up ‘Root Causes’

You’ll have to dig a deep hole in the dung heap of tin foil hat ideas to find one of the most pernicious of the Democratic Party’s immigration theories that Trump’s border has now exposed: the so-called “Root Causes Strategy.” The Biden administration appropriated this idea from European progressive liberals as its central immigration policy with a February 2021 Executive Order that claimed this was the best way to control the U.S. southern border. Biden appointed Vice President Harris to oversee the whole stupid thing.

The theory held that fewer citizens of Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador would want to emigrate if the United States invested billions in tax and development money to rebuild those troubled Central American sending countries.

Simple Causes, Simple Solutions

Trump’s quick border closure now requires that the American public, lawmakers, students of immigration policy and policy practitioners finally and forever accept that starting and stopping mass migration events was never the complex undertaking that Democrats constantly asserted while keeping the southern border wide open.Neither the border nor the “immigration system” were ever “broken” like they always claimed in need of drastic “comprehensive immigration reform.”

Retailers with power are making the suppliers eat any tariffs…not their customers… they are not “asking”…they’re “telling”. I have a client who is a major supplier to Costco…they have been told eat them or don’t supply…they are complying…(and moving manufacturing out to non tariff countries or looking to increase production in stateside facilities….winning!😂😂👍🏽🇺🇸

Walmart (NYSE:WMT) “Asks Chinese Suppliers to Eat Tariffs”

The world’s biggest retailer is asking some Chinese suppliers to cut prices to effectively shoulder the burden on President Trump’s tariffs, Bloomberg reported. Citing unnamed sources, the news provider said the U.S. retail giant was asking suppliers of items including kitchenware and clothing for reductions of up to 10%.

However, Walmart’s ‘Everyday Low Prices’ strategy that keeps prices down for consumers means it’s already procuring goods about as cheap as is viable for suppliers, it seems

Costco on tariffs: Margins are much tighter on food

“The tariffs are very fluid right now, so it’s hard to really give any predictions on what we can do,” Vachris said during the call. “But we are prepared. Our people are very well-equipped to lower prices and defer any cost increases that come our way.”

Well we will find out in their next couple of quarterly earnings calls. Any gross margin compression and they will probably blame tariffs. Then we will see if this article is legit. There is no way Walmart and/or Costco is getting all of their suppliers to eat all of the tariff costs.

My wife actually worked for NAEP that produces the national report card by random testing. That data can be helpful but she said it was a shitshow of a bureaucracy that spent money like water, incredibly in efficient. Other than that, no one is sure what they do🤷🏽‍♂️😡👎🏽

The best thing the new Department of Education Indoctrination could do while they can would be to aggressively eliminate tenure. Colleges have become hard left echo chambers primarily staffed by crusty tenured professors who rely primarily on Teachers Aids to actually do the educating of students. The same goes for K-12 public schools, but that could be a harder system to crush.

How could this be accomplished? DOE controls most Federal Student Loan programs. Stop all loans by school year 2026-2027 to colleges that have tenure programs and staff. Many endowment rich colleges can certainly use some of their funds to help reduce college costs in lieu of student loans IF they want to keep tenure. Some colleges could decide to use their endowments and keep their financial commitment to tenured professors, but any non-tenured educators must never be offered tenure.

For any educator who absolutely won't teach without a tenure opportunity, I have three words: Learn To Code.

Dang it!!I Caved!! was hoping for a shut down. Dems knew this was a lose/lose situation for them and if they let a shut down happen, Trump wouldn’t open half of the government again. It would’ve helped. Oh well, we’ll just have to keep Dogeing it out of existenction!🤷🏽‍♂️😂😂😂😡👎👍🏽🇺🇸

Chuck Schumer caves, won’t block GOP plan to avert government shutdown in dramatic U-turn

Schumer (D-NY) argued that if the Democrats stall a Republican plan to avert a partial government shutdown, it will give President Trump too much power and have far more devastating ramifications than the GOP spending patch.

“While the CR bill is very bad, the potential for a shutdown has consequences for America that are much, much worse,” Schumer declared in a Senate floor speech Thursday evening. “Allowing [President] Trump to take even much more power is a far worse option.””Under a shutdown, Trump and Elon Muskwould have carte blanche to destroy vital government services at a significantly faster rate than they can right now,” he added. “I believe it is my job to make the best choice for the country, to minimize the harms to the American people, therefore, i will vote to keep the government open and not shut it down.”
