That's the first time I have ever seen that! Shocking. Now the few months that the Obamas have been in Office. I have seen them invited the inner city kids to the White House lawn for the Easter egg hunt; Michelle interacted by being in classes with the kids; she invited the kids to plant veggies at the new veggie garden; etc. And this is just in the last few months.

I honestly have never seen that from the Bush's in their 8 yrs. Unless, they didn't get the press coverage.

Laura kept a low profile during 43's two terms. Michelle has to get infront of the media before they do to her what they did to Hillary.

Thank you for making my point for me. The White House is front running Michelle and her image in those rags for a reason.

The unflattering picture of Michelle pointing I posted has been on Rush Limbaugh's site for more than a year. This White House is not going to allow the hatchet job pulled on Hillary by the Limbaugh/Hannity/O'Riley/John&Ken; group because they aren't going to get behind the curve on image control. You do a Google search for Michelle and you get 10-1 photos like the ones TR posted to the crap I posted. Last fall that wasn't the case. It helps that your two young children have adequate supervision, parenting, and household discipline. They are unlikely to continue the Palin family tradition - multiple generations of fabricating children outside of wedlock.

I want to un-hijack this thread and get back to the topic of Palin - specifically my contention that she's a failed parent. I'm really steamed about this - this is parental failure. Parents who have control of their children and are doing their job just don't have these problems. Sarah (and her husband) were too involved/self absorbed in whatever else they were doing to be good parents to their children.

As parents, you have a choice - you can be your child?s parent, or you can be "the cool mom/dad" and be their buddy. The kids I knew growing up who wound up being productive citizens and not fabricating kids out of wedlock (or in trouble with the law, or hooked on drugs) had parents that chose to be parents. Everybody else had an inter-generational buddy. I'm not saying that there aren't exceptions to the rule, but in my recollection, the exceptions are very few and far in between in a sea of balanced and well adjusted children turned adults.

I wasn't making a point for you but against you. The press love the Obama's even before President Obama got elected Michelle was gracing the covers of magazines. She is just like Nancy Reagan was. The press eats her up.

Rush is far right media. The American public will not hear rush or see his website at a grocery store like they see these magazines.

It isn't the Whitehouse doing anything these magazines love Michelle.

Because, you know, nobody in the Far Right media would ever do anything to hurt a sitting first lady.

Let me quote from the opening lines of the report: "'The Communication Stream of Conspiracy Commerce' refers to the mode of communication employed by the right wing to convey their fringe stories into legitimate subjects of coverage by the mainstream media. This is how the stream works. First, well-funded right-wing think tanks and individuals underwrite conservative newsletters and newspapers such as the Western Journalism Center, the American Spectator and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Next the stories are reprinted on the Internet where they are bounced all over the world. From the Internet, the stories are bounced into the mainstream media through one of two ways: 1) The story will be picked up by the British tabloids and covered as a major story, from which the American right-of-center mainstream media (i.e. the Wall Street Journal, Washington Times and New York Post) will then pick the story up; or 2) The story will be bounced directly from the Internet to the right-of-center mainstream American media. After the mainstream right-of-center American media covers the story, congressional committees will look into the story. After Congress looks into the story, the story now has the legitimacy to be covered by the remainder of the American mainstream press as a 'real' story."

The lists may have originated with The Clinton Chronicles, a video produced in 1993 and since hawked by conservatives such as Pat Robertson, Rush Limbaugh, and Jerry Falwell. The Chronicles explain that as governor of Arkansas, Bill Clinton supervised a drug-smuggling and money-laundering enterprise that stretched from Central America to the Reagan-administration's CIA to west Arkansas. The video alleges that eight people were killed because they knew too much about the operation.

You are right. The Obama's got NOTHING to worry about. It's not like the keywords "Obama Muslim Socialist" doesn't get 1,240,000 hits on Google or something.

I am getting confused.

Question (Me):

Before I respond can you answer what makes/made Bristol and Sarah floozies?

Answer (You):

Getting knocked up before they got married. Order makes a difference.

Question (Me):

If a woman got pregnant having premarital sex will she always be a floozy.

Answer (You):

Yes.

Question (Me):

Statistics of Births to unwed Parents. Are you saying that all of these people are bad parents?

Answer (You):

If their children are teenagers when they fabricate other children? Absolutely. Total epic failure as parents.

I don?t want to put words into your mouth but any woman that got pregnant before she was married you said was a floozy. Now I would say any parent that raised a child that became a floozy per your words is a Total Epic Failure as parents.

Looking at the statistics there are plenty of Epic Failures in this country.

Per BLT?s statistics which I didn?t research teen sex is rampant. I don?t? disagree with the statement but I didn?t research it. That is why teaching abstinence alone is stupid.

A girl gets pregnant and you blame the parents? Is it the child getting pregnant that makes them bad parents.

Lets go with some statistics here on the effectiveness of birth control.

Condom (Male)

? Typical use: 85% effective

? Perfect use: 98% effective

? Of every 100 women whose partners use condoms, 15 will become pregnant (with typical use) and 2 will become pregnant with perfect use

Female Condom

? Typical use: 79% effective

? Perfect use: 95% effective

? Of every 100 women who use female condoms, 21 will become pregnant (with typical use) and 5 will become pregnant with perfect use

Spermicides

? Typical use: 71% effective

? Perfect use: 85% effective

? Of every 100 women who use contraceptive foam, cream, jelly, film, or suppositories, 29 will become pregnant (with typical use) and 15 will become pregnant with perfect use

The Pill

? Typical use: 92% effective

? Perfect use: 99.7% effective

? Of every 100 women who use The Pill, 8 will become pregnant (with typical use) within the first year and less than one will become pregnant with perfect use

For Different Types of Birth Control Pills:

NuvaRing

? Typical use: 92% effective

? Perfect use: 99.7% Effective

? Of every 100 women who use the ring, 8 will become pregnant (with typical use) within the first year and less than 1 will become pregnant with perfect use

The Ortho Evra Patch

? Typical use: 92% effective

? Perfect use: 99.7% Effective

? Of every 100 women who use the patch, 8 will become pregnant (with typical use) within the first year and less than 1 will become pregnant with perfect use

So depending on the method the kids use anywhere from 8% to 18% of kids that have sex will get pregnant even if they are using birth control.

So the differentiator between a good parent and a parent that is an Epic failure could possibly be a birth control failure.

So the having sex is ok just don?t let your kids get pregnant folks or you will be epic failures.

I can't say that I share your view of the universe.

If you were to say that any parent that has a teenager that is having sex is a bad parent I might not agree with you but I could see your view.

To say that a parent is an Epic failure because their teenager got pregnant is very judgemental and narrow minded.

What if the girl got an aboriton would the parents not be an epic failure?

I am posting a second response since we are on two topics.

Only because they remembered the lesson of what happens to a strong woman al la Hillary.

It was clear when Bill was Potus that Hillary was not a typical first lady. She was a non elected, non appointed part of President Clintons cabinet. She was front and center in the previous go around for health care.

Hillary wasn't just a stron woman, she was as non elected official that some would say garnered way to much power. Those were rumblings from both Democrats and Republicans alike.

I never said the right wing wouldn't try to hurt or discredit the Democrats. I said they weren't mainstream. How many intelligent people would really believe the Clintons ran murder inc.?

Oprah has a bigger audience then Rush. She loves the Obama's and Michelle based on the airtime she gives them.

I don't think that Rush will be able to top Oprah. As I have said before I don't think anyone has the guts other then the far right to say a bad thing about PRes. Obama or Michelle.

So it isn't the White House or the Obama press machine that is responsible for this. It is the media.

What was this thread about again?

Oh yea.....

I agree with Vas on the Epic Failure of a Parent if the teenager gets pregnant.

trrenter from what you have written you are having issues with your teenager.

Man I know the feeling. I busted my ass to be supportive and communicative while mine went to what I call "The Dark Side". This is a period of anywhere from 13-17 years of age. All teenagers will go through this period in one form or another. They experiment with Drugs and Sex. Possibly commit some petty crime and god know what else. During this period a parent is challenged in the extreme. How you help your teen get through this period shows "who" you are as a parent. It reflects on how you were raised and the skill and commitment you can make in the raising of your own teenager. NOBODY said this was easy. Trust me its not. But its one of the greatest feelings in life when your sitting with your Adult offspring now over 21. And he tells you how proud he is of how you raised him. How much he hated you but no matter what he knew you loved him through that difficult period. And he still remembers when I GAVE him condoms. And told him to wear a "raincoat" at all times. We sit and laugh at all the those difficult times today. I cant wait till he gets to repeat the same process in the near future.

Its going to be great fun to watch and enjoy in my later life.

BLT,

I am not having big issues with my son. I was using his grades as an example at the time.

Lets take 100 parents of teenagers and assume the have all given the same talk you did. I have had the raincoat speech as well.

However up to 15% of the time the raincoat fails or hormones get the best of a well raised teenager. Now that parent is an Epic Failure.

I can't agree with that. BLT if your son did have premarital sex and didn't get a girl pregnant great. That doesnt mean you are a better parent then the person that had the sme speech and a condom failed.

I personally know someone with one ovary that was on birthcontrol and she got pregant. They were going to name the baby houdini.

trrenter

So now this subject goes full circle.

You are a failure as a parent if your like Sarah Palin and preach abstinence

all the while letting your teens "Sleep Together" in your home.

And your a failure as a parent if your children have unprotected sex resulting in

an unplanned pregnancy.

And your a VERY UNLUCKY failed Parent if your child gets pregnant while having protected

sex or while taking birth control. I think the percentage is like under 5%.

So your talking 1 in 20 odds. Bottom line is accountability. If the kids get pregnant

your a dog. Just get over it.

We can agree to disagree.

It seems as though you and vas opinion is based on making Palin look like an idiot.

Up to 15% of the time condom's fail if used incorrectly. I am sure that there are millions of teenagers that have unprotected sex no matter what their parents say and teach them and they dodge a bullet. Ran out of raincoats and decided to go out in the rain anyway. That is part of being a stupid teenager.

If you want to condem Palin feel free.

You could raise a tramp but as long as she doesn't get pregnant you are not an epic failure.

I think Vas said it before about if this were Obama's daughters the press would have a field day. I have a feeling if it were Obama's daughters you would skew closer to my opinion.

[quote author="trrenter" date=1244870939]

Does anyone know for sure they didn't use birth control that failed?

I doubt her daughter got knocked up because her mom is a hypocrite.

Her daughter might have not known about birth control what about the father of the child?

According to Levi, they used protection most of the time

More than three-quarters of teen girls who have lost their virginity say they?ve engaged in sex without a condom and most moms are in the dark about it, a survey from Seventeen and O, The Oprah Magazine finds. Fifty-six percent of the girls who are no longer virgins said they?ve had sex without any form of birth control and two-thirds of them (66 percent) kept it a secret from their mothers.

Article on Teen Sex

Again the best a parent can do is have the talk but it doesn't absolutely insure the use of birth control.

By age 12, 12 percent of students had already engaged in vaginal sex, 7.9 percent in oral sex, 6.5 percent in anal sex and 4 percent in all three types of intercourse, researchers found.

As long as these 12 year old's don't get pregnant they have great parents!

So it looks like Brisol and Levi were part of that three quarters that engaged in sex without a condom or fifty six percent that used on birth control.

Your birth control failure rates are bogus:

http://www.youngwomenshealth.org/summarychart.html

Seat belts are only 99% effective too.

I can't respond to any of the other crap TR posted right now, but I am disgusted at him as a fellow human being.

UMMM your numbers are almost identicle to mine.

I mean on yours 14 woman out of 100 get pregnant with typical use of a condom and 15 on mine but really I think that would be more of a slight sampling difference.

On yours birth control typical is 5% mine is 8%.

Most of yours are very close to mine. So again you found a slight variation and your stats must be right.

I think most samplings have at least a 1-2% pls or minus.

another source

another link

One skews more toward your post one toward mine. Either way the biggest variation is on the pill by about 3%. So I doubt my numbers are bogus.

You are not high on my list of favorite humans either. I think your opinion about women being floozies and parents being failures is tainted by your distaste for Palin. Or you feel morally superior to the rest of the world because you didn't have a child out of wedlock.
