Biden to release 1 million barrels of gasoline to reduce prices at the pump ahead of July 4

The SPR is supposed to be for national emergencies. In fact, they should have begun replenishing it when oil prices took a dip last year. Using it as another way to buy votes is irresponsible to say the least.

It’s Time to Take America’s Energy Choices Back

Summer’s here, and the time is right for driving in the streets. The problem is that gas prices remain high, are likely headed higher, and still more than $1 a gallon higher than the $2.33 a gallon they were in January 2021.

Not only that, the cost of electricity is rising as fast as it has since the Iranian Revolution triggered an energy crisis in in 1979-80, causing oil prices to more than double to the equivalent of $100 a barrel in today’s dollars and electricity prices rose 13% over three years. Since 2021, electricity prices have risen by more than 8%, the highest rate of price increases since then, according to a BofA Securities report. These everyday realities and their impact on our wallets are just a few of the financial chickens that will come home to roost at the ballot box in November. When added to higher interest rates and the highest inflation in a generation, families and business owners have every right to be frustrated, and a bit worried, that our energy policies seem to be making the situation worse. The biggest impact on energy price, availability and reliability are misguided and/or restrictive energy policies that lead directly to higher prices, less availability and lower reliability. Because there is often time between the approval of a bad policy and the impact it has on the public, elected leaders either have time course-correct, or– more likely - avoid the blame by safely being out of office.

But consumers (read: voters) are not so easily fooled.

The European Green parties that promulgated restrictive energy policies that increased costs, made energy less reliable and failed to provide any meaningful environmental improvement got walloped at the ballot box in June’s European Union parliamentary elections. While other factors played a role, political analyst Ruy Texeira noted that “greenlash” played a big part. Which is to say that voters understood who enacted the policies that restricted their choices for vehicles or energy, raised energy prices to unaffordable levels and made farming costlier through aggressive regulations.

Trump plans to withdraw US from Paris climate pact, open some national monuments to drilling: report

President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team has prepared executive orders and proclamations that would withdraw the US from the Paris climate agreement and open up western lands for drilling and mining, according to a report.

Trump’s energy and environment transition team – tasked with drafting these actions – includes his former Department of the Interior Secretary David Bernhardt and former Environmental Protection Agency administrator Andrew Wheeler, the New York Times reported on Friday.

Well… they pulled the trigger…Thanks Boy King….60 cents more a gallon in January…appreciate that!😡😡😡😡👎🏽🦄🌈

California's gas prices could have major increase with passing of new fuel standards

California's gas prices are on the verge of a major increase.

"We know that in order to be successful in addressing climate change, we must continue to reduce our fossil fuel consumption," said Liane Randolph, chair of California Air Resources Board.

On Friday, the California Air Resources Board approved updates to the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS).

"If LCFS credit prices reach their maximum allowed levels, as has occurred in the past, then retail gasoline price impacts could be $0.65 per gallon in the near term, $0.85 per gallon by 2030, and nearly $1.50 per gallon by 2035."

Though US is the No 1 crude oil producer in the world, most is exported and little is used by its own people.
Most of the gasoline used by US consumers are instead refined in the US from crude oils imported from say Canada, Mexico and Middle East.

A Trump U.S. Energy Renaissance

His choice of North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum to head the Interior Department and Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright at Energy fit squarely in the first category.

Mr. Burgum leads the third-largest oil producing state and one of the country’s top wind producers. Before becoming Governor in 2016, he ran a software startup that he later sold to Microsoft and founded a venture capital firm. Mr. Wright helped pioneer hydraulic fracturing and now runs the major fracking contractor Liberty Energy.

Both nominees understand how energy markets work, unlike Biden officials whose primary goal was to lock up America’s fossil-fuel resources. Mr. Burgum’s first charge at Interior will be to roll back the Biden regulations that have hampered resource development.

For starters, he could scrap the Biden five-year offshore oil and gas leasing plan that allows only three auctions between now and 2029—the fewest of any President in modern times. Mr. Trump’s first-term plan had proposed 47. Mr. Burgum may need to schedule more to make up the many that the Biden team has cancelled.

Another priority will be to reopen the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for oil and gas leasing, as required by the GOP 2017 tax reform. Biden Secretary Deb Haaland last year cancelled leases issued under Mr. Trump. Mr. Burgum could also speed up permitting for projects on federal land and open some up for housing, as Mr. Trump promised in his campaign.
