Their policies are not drastically if any different. Whatever they talk right now is going to go out the window the moment EITHER steps into the office, from that point on it's politics as usual. The public will go back to sleep and the powerful special interests in Washington will take control of the new President. Elections are dangerous because they give the illusion that people have brought about a social change by getting off their asses for a day every 4 years.
Now, I do think Obama is a safer bet because of the personality factor alone. He's not a polarizing person like McCain. McCain stands no chance whatsoever in international diplomacy. He's tired and likely to die during the first term, thus making Sarah Palin the President, who nobody really voted for into that position. The maverick talk is B.S.
Democrats are corrupt 60%, Republicans are corrupt 90%. Although in the face of this bailout I might have to reconsider those numbers...
