Nothing but the kitchen sink

Starting my super slow kitchen remodel.  Planning to replace counter/backsplash, cabinets, kitchen island, oven, gas range, micro, vent hood, windows/treatment, flooring, ceiling, etc.. only thing staying is the fridge, dishwasher, and kitchen faucet which are less than 2 years old.

The sink will be the focal point, currently it is an enclosed stainless steel offset double bowl.  Really hate this.  Not sure what is the purpose of a double bowl if one side is useless and can't even fit a dinner plate.  So the farmhouse, apron styles are prevalent throughout the new home models I've toured.  Anyone care to give some experience feedback on these?  I would think the large singular bowl would mean more room for dishes (good or bad).  White seems to be the most popular, don't like stainless steel as its a bit too restaurant/industrial/medical lab to me:

Copper caught my eye, and comes in different tones/shades/patina of the metal:

I also like the apron/farmhouse sinks but I still prefer the white porcelain over stainless steel.

I also prefer double bowl because I still hand wash dishes and it's usually dirty in one, soap and place in other, then rinse those and put them to dry in the dishwasher or on a rack. Not sure what size your sink is, but I've never had problem fitting dinner plates or pots/pans in either side.

Two grown men, talking about kitchen sinks...gonna go watch Nets vs Lakers tonight to get my mancard back.. how appropriate Jason Collins might play :)

I currently have a white farmhouse sink and wouldn't do it any other way in the future. It's great for putting in dishes of almost whatever size, easy to wash out, and makes a great spot for giving a bath to your (smallish) dog.

Mine is asymmetric, one bowl larger than other, like the second copper bowl pictured up top.  You don't use dishwasher?  I thought only old asian folks shun the dishwasher :))

We have a single bowl stainless under mount (Blanco) sink which we love.  Watch out on the depth though-  especially if you are tall-  the really deep sinks can be hard on your back.

Most of the ones I've had were symmetric and large enough to fit pots and large plates.

I do remember one that was asymmetric but the larger side could fit a pot.

We use the dishwasher for larger loads, for small daily loads... I'm the dishwasher.

And yes... the deeper the sink, the harder it is on your back.

One thing that can be a bit hairy will be the placement of the sink drain with the water stream from the faucet.  When I replaced my faucet I failed to get one that matches perfectly with the old sink drain, hence at full stream, water will splash tremendously instead of shooting into the drain.  Water spots galore.  Won't make the same mistake this time around.

I like the plain one better too, that was only image I could find with more updated decor, most of these white farmhouse sinks are paired with butcher block counter tops.

Here is another image I found:

I'm not doing anything. If I were to get a new sink... that is what I would like to do (not sure if the "boss" feels the same).

I lost the battle on this one. I wanted single but wife insisted on double. She has to have one where you can put dirty dishes and the other just for rising. I hate the fact that I can't wash pots and pans in a tiny cramped space. She doesn't get it coz she never washes pots and pans, those are left for me to do.

As for porcelain, looks pretty but we were told it stains pretty easily. So if you leave something there (like maybe some drops of pasta sauce), tough stain to get out. I for one am guilty of not scrubbing the sink.  >:D
