I know someone in Floral Park with a huge backyard where you can have a lovely ?father of the bride? wedding ceremony.
Actually... the quote was "Father of No Pride". I wonder if that was mental slip on his part considering he's so proud of his philanthropic progeny.

So is Sevilla supposed to be like Montecito?  Driveways, but off a motorcourt?

Are you kidding me?  :-\

A driveway for mid-500s in Irvine? Why don't you ask for a free gold watch while you're at it?

I have a gold watch, but I don't wear it because I think it's out of style... and the face is too small... so I wouldn't ask for one...

I understand that a frontal garage creates the abilty for a back yard.. but with a mini-yard I'm not sure I see the benefit...  I mentioned in another post how unappealing Santa Cruz homes are.

I don't think you understand the value of Irvine. Have you heard of the award winning schools? The low crime rate? You're expecting way too much for mid-500s in Irvine. Wait until foreigners buy up all the homes in Irvine, you'll be sorry that you waited.

Ummm...they already are.

Akim,
I felt the same as you seeing what kind of crap you can get for the mid $500s in Irvine. Personally i didn't think it was worth it which why i bought in a different state where taxes are lower, schools are better, lower crime and a place where you can get a real SFR on a 1/2 an acre for the mid $500s in a Country Club subdivision comparable to Shady Canyon in that state . TIC should change their marketing photos with unhappy Asian families where more than 60% - 70% of their hard earned cash savings are dumped into the house, and can't ever afford to take nice family vacations once a year. Irvine's HOA and Mellos Roos are wallet drainers.

Irvine to me is a place where you tread waters, not a place where you can get a head financially. We all have a choice of where we think is the best place for our family.

That's preposterous panda. No school districts are better than Irvine Unified! The price premium here is well worth it. Who cares if people spend 60% of their net income on housing? It's worth it for the schools, safety, and central location in OC!

Troy High School in Fullerton blows anything in Irvine away.

Troy High is a magnet school that the students must pass test to get in.  Therefore, only the smart kids get in and you don't have the "dumb" kids to bring the average down.  There is a portion of Troy high that is open to everyone but is only a portion of school.
Oxford Academy in Anaheim (all magnet school) actually blows away Troy High.  Finally, Whitney High in Cerritos (another all magnet school) blows away ALL schools in OC.

Irvine does not have a "magnet" high school.  As I have posted numerous times earlier, Irvine has very good schools, but it it not the whole reason for the price premium.  There are many other excellent schools in many cities in OC besides schools in Irvine.  However, comparing a magnet high school to an "open" high school does not make sense and does not prove anything.

IndieDev, you should take a look at Scottsdale. It is also called the desert's South Beach and was voted as one of the hippest places in the country. You could buy two houses for the price of one house in Irvine.  Great central location and the schools are fine, too.

I would never live in the desert. My skin is far too delicate.

We really like IUSD...  Fullerton (Troy) isn't bad...  but almost too competetive... nothing against Koreans, but moving to Fullerton and having kid go to Fisler would have my kid going K-Pop...  (not that there's anything wrong with that...)

Schools matter a lot, so we've been looking at other areas with decent schools (Villa Park, Yorba Linda, Foothill etc.)  A little more bang for the buck
