They should have done it this year but I understand they are trying to stick with a 2-year form factor/style cycle (which follows phone contracts). I do think that's a smart way to go since it keeps accessories viable longer and doesn't alienate the consumers every year.
The big hardware difference in the 5S is the rumored fingerprint scanner on the home key. I hope it's more than just that, if you can do swipe gestures with the home key, that would be a plus.
I was planning on just getting the 5C but rumors seem to indicate that there will be enough differences between the 5S and the 5C so that the nerd in me will want the 5S.
The new Galaxy Note 3 has me drooling too... decisions decisions.
irvinehomeowner said:Yeah... I don't mean to replace the smaller iPhones, just add a new iPhone line like they did with the iPad Mini, just call it the iPhone XL (or next year, the iPhone 6L).

On 2nd thought... I may be able to do without all the 5s "updates"... too bad they don't make it in black or silver.

Even without the new hardware, iOS7 should be a great upgrade for existing Apple customers and it will be free. If you are a Android user, not so much.
It's very interesting how Apple sells their iPhone.iacrenter said:Checked out Apple's website tonight--looks like 9/13 pre-order is only for the 5c model. Get ready to stand in line if you want to be first with a 5s--it will go on sale at the store and online on 9/20. No pre-order for 5s.
