It's bothersome to have so many dimmer switches in the house for ceiling fan lights when it seems most ceiling fans don't have dimmable lights.

i have switches in my house I still haven't figured out what they control.

Totally!!!

We have the same problem. Confuses the hell out of guests. We have one panel with 6 switches with one ontrolling the fire place. Still get it wrong everyday (sigh).

Sometimes think it's a sick joke from the builder to milk more money and get a laugh!

Need to use LEDs or regular bulbs, CFLs aren't dimable. Or you can just install the fans w/o lights and make it one of those mysterious switches for them to figure out. :)

Yeah, despite what Mr. More Embassy Suites says sometimes MORE is NOT better.

the CREE LED bulbs are situated on a cylindrical stem where the light emitters are on the shaft.  There are no emitters on the tip.  So when you turn on the light, and look directly at it, there is a dark spot in the middle of the light bulb.  It is more noticeable in the low lumen bulbs.  Why did CREE put it on the side?  LED emitters focus much like a spot light, and putting it on the sides gives their bulbs an incandescent imitation.

I don't know why they didn't add emitters on the tip to conceal the black spot.

If you are putting LED bulbs into a recess lighting area, don't use CREE as the light emits sideways and not down.  Most other LED bulbs emit downward.

I bought one of the Sylvania led bulbs as a test.  It doesn't dim very well.  The lowest setting is bright as hell...and goes to OMG i'll blind your ass bright.
