NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Although I may not be a fan of all Ron Paul stands for, here is a clip for you all to hear his words. He wants to abolish the IRS. Need I say more ? YouTube - Ron Paul : Stop Dreaming

House optical illusion...this is in Washington DC YouTube

All right, I have a gripe. I admit to saving my aluminum soda cans to recycle them....for the $ return. I swear I've got about 10 trash bags filled with cans in my garage. The one grocery store that used to have a recycling machine, recently removed it. Is my only choice to now go to one of those nasty, smelly "recycling centers" ? You know, the ones where the minute you step on site, you shoes stick to the pavement... the one that is loaded with transients that have been cherry picking your recyclable bins... The one that is nowhere near my house (thank goodness actually).

Doesn't that seem like a racket ? They charge you 5 cents a can, but make it nearly impossible or unpalatable to recoup your deposit. Pffft.

Troop - I thought groceries stores HAD to take back your recycle cans if they sold them at that store. I usually count them before I go in to Ralphs and just give the clerk the number. They never question my number - just hand me the receipt. No need to use a machine.

Bring them to the Customer Service area. You might want to call them first to make sure your store takes them - but the one near me just takes the garbage bag. They don't even want me to take them out of the bag (do you blame them - all sticky).

There is an Irvine "Cans for Cash" event coming up to raise money for the IUSD if you like.

When I recycle the Arrowhead 7.7 once bottles, I get 10 cents each. Why is it, I only get 10 cents for the big 3 gallons Arrowhead containers? Shouldn't I get more than 10 cents for the amount of plastic it takes to make the the big containers?

I knew that paying $150K for higher education would come in handy!

green. You have no idea how many people call us to report the homeless "stealing" their recyclables. The call actually gets generated as a "Theft suspect there now". Technically, once the recyclables are put in the blue bin and placed on the sidewalk, they become the property of the city of L.A. (we pay for the recycling program by the $ made on the returns). We might even make money on it, who knows.

What I do know is that I could give a crap whether they are gathering up "L.A.'s" cans and bottles. If they didn't have this income, where do you think it's going to come from (burglary, theft, robbery, your tax dollars). I look the other way.

We don't commend our police officers enough. After 9-11 the fireman were appreciated more, but policeman are in just as much danger every day.

Thank a cop today! They put their lives in danger to keep our community safe.

Thanks, Trooper!
