I woke up Friday morning and my neck was really sore. The hot shower must have done wonders because it didn't really bother me the rest of the day.

I woke up at about 4 a.m. this morning with the worst neck pain I've ever had. We're talking tears in the eyes pain. I got up to go to the bathroom and almost couldn't get back in bed it was so painful. Since I cannot find a heating pad (I think it's still in a box in the garage), I made a makeshift heating device -- I boiled water, added a hand towel, removed the hand towel and wrapped it in a bath towel, and put in around my neck. Now, my neck feels a little better. I have almost full mobility when turning left or right, albeit with pain. I can look up with no pain whatsoever. However, I still have no mobility when looking down. What the heck! So here I sit with pillows stacked on my lap so that I can type on my laptop without moving my head.

I went to a conference earlier in the week and lugged a big bag of free crap around on one of my shoulders. This is the only possible cause that I can think of.

The most irritating part? I have 4 pumpkins that I need to carve today.

Whoa!! sorry to hear it Sunshine!!

You can get the same effect by wetting a small Towel under the Tap, wring it out and put it in the Micro for a minute or two..it's faster than Boiling water...

Get well soon!! It sounds like you need to visit the Chiro!!

We recently discovered Tylenol 8 Hour. I?m allergic to NSAIDs so it?s a godsend. You might give it a try. Hope you feel better soon!

NEVER go see a chiro!!! God, the stories I could tell you about the horrible medical damage I see and the lawsuits that I come across. How about some unforeseen arterial dissection with your hurt back? just dont. Little stretches and pops are great "suggestive" make-you-feel-better-for-the-day techniques, but are completely and utterly ineffective for an actual medical condition.

Go see a real MD. Get and x-ray and CT. Sounds like you could have a ruptured/herniated disc, though it may be something less serious.
