NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
What a year... what an amazing ride; it really has been interesting to see how technology has changed my life personally and it has been my pleasure to chronicle the changing gadget landscape on a daily basis...

BGR gives a great recap, the emotions I've felt with the announcements of some of the mile-stones that we went through this year...
Looking back at 2011: iPhone 4S and Galaxy Nexus cap off the year of the smartphone
iphone-4s-galaxy-nexus.jpg

In reflecting, I can't believe how much I have changed personally; and how much things can change in a year.  Unbeknownst to me back in February, I did not know that this little robot would take me on this incredible journey; all I knew back then was 1) I did not want an iPhone; 2) Something call Android has finally caught up to iPhone & 3) This is what I've been waiting for...

As you can recall, I actually started out the Android year with Eclair, which then got pushed  OTA to Froyo, I did a factory reset, Mothers Day, and really ran with it for months; got rooted and flashed Gingerbread; played around for weeks with Honeycomb, Sense 3.0 then 3.5 and now ICS...

I feel like I just rode the coolest wave just when it was taking off; I knew, when I held the G1 that this was something special, finally a native mobile Gmail app!  Nice... but it felt too soon; then all the buzz with the Nexus One..! Then the OG Droid..  Yes, it's getting close..!  There was and is still such an emotional connection to be swept up in a global movement and to see Android adoption happen right before my eyes!  How the timing was just perfect how Android unveiled it's technology to the world at exactly the time when I needed it personally and professionally.

I can't even imagine what 2012 will hold; there are things I want to see happen, but I can't even begin to predict what changes will take place.  All I know is that we will probably be blown away again at the pace in which technology is changing and how it will affect our lives.

The guys really hit it home last night on the AC podcast...  I can't wait to see what Android will bring; all I know is to buckle up, hold on tight because the dang robot has his booster rockets on overload...!http://www.androidcentral.com/podca...-82-2011-android-central-awards-and-look-2012

You know... I admit to being a technology/gadget dork... but rc... you kind of scare me. It's like you have an actual relationship with your phone.

Maybe that's why your wife gets mad at you. :D

It's so funny you say that... last night, the wife asked, does your $400 new phone wipe your butt...?  I almost said, why, YES it does...!

It is a new year people, welcome to 2012, and this year Android will be your friend; how, you might ask?  Well, Android will be helping me be even more productive...

I read about Remote Desktops before, and I've used some before but I ran into this over the weekend, and things are working perfectly on the Nexie this morning...  the app is called:

TeamViewer for Remote Control

Controlling your work or home PC remotely is a very powerful tool for when you're on the go; having it mobile is even more useful.  I can access anything on my PC anytime, anywhere.  It's not that I have anything actually on the PC anymore; everything is already on the cloud, but my ACT - Customer Management database is still on the PC, so if I'm at home or away, and I need to find that phone number or contact,it is as easy as a few swipes...

in 2012, your Android will be even more powerful, by remote, why would you ever have to buy another PC again..?  You have all the power of Windows and a desktop right on your mobile device; coming in only at 25megs of RAM & 3megs for the actual app, it's a no brainier...

I love being known as the Android Guru around the office and among my circle of friends... and given how much I actually know about Android that is an complement; it's a new year and I have lost count of how many people I know have dump their iPhones and Blackberries for Android, it warms my heart and makes my day every time I walk a person through the Google set-up... get their enterprise emails in order and give them a quick walk thru...

Welcome again if you are new to Android; you really have to think of your little robot as having a personality, and having some time to getting to know it; and over the same period of time, the Android will get to know you almost, as well as your significant other...

So.. with that... let's open up your robot and let's get started...http://www.androidcentral.com/what-is-android-bootloader

With that, have fun and enjoy the Android honeymoon...!

we need some more input from Black Berry users around here..

I'm not too up to date on BB news like what is currently hot, and up and coming, but news out doesn't sound good... what is up with RIM..?  Why do they keep shooting themselves in the foot..?  Any loyal BB users here..?  By choice or given one at work?  2012 is shaping out to be make or break it year for RIM; and they can very well go the way of WebOS if something doesn't change soon...

Lastly, we got word that when representatives from Porsche Design showed up to RIM?s headquarters to check out the progress the company was making on the designed by Porsche BlackBerry 9900-series phone for the first time, ?it was a complete disaster.?

I can't help but to root for RIM.. I have never really touched a BB so I can't comment.. I do still have a number of close friends and co-workers who use BB, but if they ask me about upgrades, I will try to sell them on Android...

I have a BB for work.  The App World for it is bad in that the apps aren't good nor are there many of them.  I only use it for work and it sits on the counter when at home.

Pat come back... thanks for the input..

Here is your CES Monday morning, Mobile Nations Briefs; a preview of what to expect this week...

We got a slew of news coming out this weekend.. most manufacturer waiting for the right moment at their 15 minutes of PR fame.  Most companies will space PR announcements right before a trade show to create as much buzz as possible; and it seems that most are spacing them out so they don't step too much on each other's toes.

Seems like so far TV is a trend here, smart TV;  honestly I haven't keep up with much news of Smart TV, cause I just don't watch much of it, but Google or smart TV might be my next Android Device...

Ubuntu TV making its debut at CES, gets short demo clip - For those of you who don't know Ubuntu is an Linux OS that has been hack to run on a lot of PCs & Android Tablets...

Always Innovating HDMI dongle brings Android to your 'dumb TV' - I'm actually VERY intrigued with this, at $79 for a Honeycomb device got my attention!  Even this is simple enough to understand; this Stick Plugs into any HDMI port get's power from the USB; it'll stream from WiFi, internet TV & programming, games and Android Market..!  Very interesting, indeed...

I'm looking out for the new tablets.  I'm not a tech trailblazer that tests new tech.

The new tech (like that Android on HDMI) is very interesting though.
