Midterm Elections

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
It?s all propaganda news.Trump said he was welcome warmly at Pittsburg. But in reality he wasn?t. He mentioned that the fake news mentioned the opposite. (Blah blah)

There were huge signs like the size of half a car. That says President Trump You are not Welcome to Pittsburg.

Ok so we got 660 m barrels in spr some of it sweet , some heavy

Leave aside the question of if refineries can use all of it - as many are configured for one type or the other , we will grant that everything is usable

The price of west Texas crude has fallen from 75 to 66 in a matter of a month ? Was the spr released during this time ? No . Why is it falling ? Maybe concerns around demand slowdown ? Hedge funds liquidating ? Risk parity funds ? General risk off ? No one knows

The crude oil market is global . And how much is global demand? About 110 to 120 million barrels per day - so how many days of demand is the spr ? 6 days !!

How much US shale produce each day ? 11 mm barrels ? Are we hurting saudis or are we hurting ourselves by releasing the spr , which in the best case scenario , Covers only 6 days of demand

And all of thinking - oh we will just trap it at home , I have news for you . Oil market is global and exports are now legal , how will you distinguish what oil is from shale and what is from spr ?

But hey , I can just MAGA !! And high five my fellow buddies on this forum and declare winning .  Ignorance is bliss :)

OK this really belongs in the Oil thread so I'll see you there.

The rise of far-right politicians across countries that have faced vastly different economic circumstances and immigration flows makes me inclined to place a lot more of the blame on social media than I would have a year ago.

I agree social media is a game changer. In the past, it was very difficult for people with views unacceptable to the mainstream media to get their message out to like minded people. What's scary nowadays is stuff that originates on obscure forums can become actual action in the real world with actual consequences. I read that Trump's voter fraud task force can trace its origins to a forum post (forum post > social media traffic > cable news reporting about social media traffic > government action). Who knows, maybe some future government action could be the result of something YF wrote here.

The world is a crazy world, from the standpoint of craziness.

The world is crazy. A decade ago who would have thought you'd see someone like Trump in the US, Bolsonaro in Brazil, Duterte in the Philippines, Orban in Hungary, Babis in Czech Republic, Rutte in the Netherlands, Brexit in UK, etc.

Liberals like to blame racism towards migrants for the world's right turn but there are no migrants in Brazil and the Philippines.

It's not about racism. It's about ordinary people who want to be heard and who want their concerns to be taken seriously by the elite.

Ordinary people don't want to explore the underlying causes of the world's problems, they want the problems to stop.

Who are the "ordinary people"? This is like using the term "middle class." Few people exclude themselves when using the term, rendering the term meaningless. What are the problems concerning these ordinary people?

In fairness, race is typically just one factor in the fear and hatred demagogues spread to gain/hold power. The goal is extreme, completely baseless, levels of fear and anger against groups of others. It's easiest to fan the flames of fear and anger against folks who look different (different than the group you're courting). Skin shade is great for this, but when not present, other differentiating physical characteristics will do just fine.

Hong Kong citizens can't use any of the physical characteristics to hate mainlanders. So they use cultural differentiating characteristics (accent, clothing, style, behavior, loud voices, etc.).

Spreading hate works in politics. Always has, always will. The more you do it, the more despicable you are. Our Lord Demagogue is particularly despicable for the US in 2018. When you defend this behavior, you own this behavior.

The market's up today. Using Trump logic (I know. Oxymoron. Stop laughing), this means "the market" is excited about the prospect of Dems controlling the House.

Or the markets know something you don't. Like the rise before the Brexit vote or the rise before Trump was elected.  The blue wave may turn blood red.  Happy Halloween!!!

Which is why you have never, and will never, hear me saying anything stupid, like, "Wow, the change in the market today is due to X, Y, and Z."

That Brexit vote was a joke. They are going through so much trouble because of it. I bet their economic output would have been better if brexit didn?t happen.

We are independent, but are financially screwed.

Stupid comments like this are reserved for TV pundits and Trump tweets, daily.

So-called Birthright Citizenship, which costs our Country billions of dollars and is very unfair to our citizens, will be ended one way or the other. It is not covered by the 14th Amendment because of the words ?subject to the jurisdiction thereof.?

Don?t people watch the news and see that the Brexit is not doing well. Might be another factor later down the line if the market goes down. (Idk)

Very encouraging....much like her statements before the 2010 wipe out.

Pelosi declares victory before Election Day

Nancy Pelosi is declaring victory in the battle for the House.

In public and private, the House minority leader ? who wants to make history herself by retaking the speaker?s gavel she lost eight years ago ? has said Democrats will pick up more than enough seats to win back the House and end the Republicans? lock on Congress.
