It's true that IVC pretty much guarantees a path to UC schools, but not necessarily for capped majors. Best path for capped majors is still IUSD.
 
IUSD only works if the student is at the top. I was recently speaking with an ortho surgeon whose kid is sweating out admission to USC Viterbi (and the Mom, Dad and both paternal grandparents are USC undergrad/med school grads) that lives in Turtle Rock but sends his kid to Sage, and when I asked about why not Uni he implied it was easier for the kid to dominate academically at Sage relative to his chances at Uni.
