I think Kuzma and Hart are better picks than Ball.
Hindsight is so easy.
Donovan Mitchell would be a top 3 pick... before Hart and Kuzma if we had a hot tub time machine.
I still find it funny that every year, everyone thinks the top free agents are going to be a Laker. Klay has said he wants to stay in GS his whole career if he can. PG13 is already waffling on wanting to be in LA. CP3 will be a free agent... maybe all those Laker fans who cried they got worked by Stern in that failed trade can get him back now.
Just trust #TheProcess and develop Ingram, Ball, Kuz and Hart... build it and they will come.
Yes Hindsight 20/20. Agree Mitchell goes top 2 with Simmons in a redraft for sure
Regarding free agents, I agree that I may have "homer glasses" on when it comes to Lakers, but I think we at least have a decent shot at both PG13 and Klay as compared to previous free agency years. I never thought we were going to get Lamarcus last year or Lebron when he went to the cavs/heat/cavs
Why PG13? He's from LA first. Did you notice that whenever OKC is in town, his parents are front row to watch him at Staples center, so family is key. Plus he is a Kobe #1 fan and dreamed of playing for the Lakers. He can't stop smiling with the Laker chants for him. Then the tampering charges with Magic which I don't think are only caused by Magic's comments on Jimmy Kimmel. Then never directly stating his intent in stating in OKC. If OKC is beaten in round 1 in playoffs, I truly think we have more than a 50/50 chance at PG13 with the factors above. Plus, I may be in the minority but I don't think it's fun to play with a Russell Westbrook (at least not in the sense of playing with a Lebron/Curry)... there's a reason KD left him at his first chance
Why Klay in 2019? First, the payroll in Warriors is about to get insane. Curry's supermax is about to kick in. Klay's extension is coming in 2019. Is he worth 200 million? Don't forget draymond is coming up too in 2020, is he worth $30 million/year? How about KD? He's going to want the supermax as well and can become FA in 2019 too. Assuming something small like $30M for both KD/Klay, they are at $143 million without adding any bench and without Jordan bell's rookie extension. Klay may be odd man out unless Lacob is willing to keep paying that luxury tax to keep the team. Second, his dad(laker legend) is here in LA and is on espn 710 radio. I remember a quote of Klay recently stating he understands why PG13 would consider LA as it is home etc.
Now cousins? Yeah no reason to come here unless he thinks we can win or if New Orleans doesn't offer him a max, which they should even if he has that Achilles injury. Lebron? Tear down his "I'm coming home" Cleveland speech to play in LA and make a space jam 2 movie?...maybe not, unless he knows PG13 is coming and is his best chance at a championship (odds are like 20% or less for Lebron)
