"Just by looking at the names of the students, I think it is fair to say that somewhere along the line, immigration has provided the U.S. with some incredibly gifted students."

:D

Good for them, but the more important question is....are they also well balanced or just great test takers?  Tests and real life are two different things.  Common sense & street smarts > book smarts every day of the week.  ;)

These kids are truly remarkable. They can calculate the vectors of mechanic and dynamic but they still will be sucked into the magnetic field of PS9's car.

There is nothing wrong for being ProUNI. JDude's preference for LA does not make him a troll. That poor place could use some defendings otherwise this site would be boring sounding like an echoing chamber especially now that Indie has moved to paradise. This thread title does say UNI and his posting is certainly legit.

it is trollish to say things like it is the best, is is the last true SFRs on the ranch, etc without giving any insight or background.

i dont want this site to be an echo chamber but it shouldnt be a room full of advertisers and marketing messages

University Park is zoned to University High

Quail Hill is zoned to University High

Turtle Rock is zoned to University High

Shady Canyon is zoned to University High

All of the above are true and equally irrelevant to the linked article.  Congrats to the students.  Jamboreedude feels a need to post anything and everything that remotely links to LA and puts them in a good light.  Whatever.  It's transparent to everyone reading so I guess it does no harm.  Maybe it makes him feel better <shrugging shoulders>.

Just to be fair... doesn't the performance of a high school have relevance to neighborhoods that are zoned to it?

Don't we all agree that home values are partially impacted by quality of schools?

My point was that LA was the only neighborhood listed in the OP with no mention of any of the other neighborhoods that feed into Uni.  I made no assumptions about value.

How about just having the OP titled "10 Irvine High School Students Earn Perfect ACT Scores" and place it in an appropriate subforum.

Laguna Altura is the only New neighborhood that is zoned to University High. I am not being a shill but simply stating the facts. I would not live in either Laguna Altura due to freeway pollution or LR due to you know what, but if I have to choose I will choose the lesser of the two evils. Respiratory hospital bills are easy to swallow than cancer bills. But I suppose the difference is made up by not having to pay any mello-roos.

I would bet the vast majority (if not all) of the Forbes 400 would not have been able to pass that test when they were in school.  They are still Billionaires and mega millionaires.

Those ten kids are currently living in a very dated house in Turtle Rock.

Being a CEO or a pioneer of industry doesn't take a degree or the ability to take a standardized test.  There are countless examples of successful people in the business world.  Leadership, motivation, work ethic, foresight, communication skills...these are all abilities that one can acquire without formal education.  I actually think college is a waste of time for some ppl.  That being said, there is value in doing well in school.  Going to Harvard opens up more doors than going to say... UC Riverside (not dissing UCR, just using it as an example).  Also, it matters how well you do in college if you want to go to a prestigious secondary school, be it medical, law or business school.  You don't have to be the top of your class to succeed in life, but it definitely helps.

well I do know that you don't need to pass an IQ test to be in the senate...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTSCRoYyM-Y
