during 2000/01, prices were around $200 per sqft, even then its gonna cost u 300k. u may get something in 200k range somewhere in walnut area, but not in QH,WB and don't even think in TR

It is only wishful thinking if your time machine is broken. As for me, mine works fine and I'd be happy to loan it to you.

In this case, 8 years in the future may be just as good as 8 years in the past. Just make sure you skip the 2013 bread riots.

8 years in the past wouldn't be sufficient. $200K could buy you a condo like that maybe in 1998 or earlier. You may still be able to find something, but not in the newest villages of QH, WB, TR, try an older village from the 90's.

Yes. There's an RV park off of Sand Canyon that sells them. As a bonus, it is not limited to Irvine, and you can drive it and park it in Newport, I'm sure.

I'm not sure why, but that struck me as funny.

Hahaha! That's hilarious.

I'd be happy with a 2 bedroom condo for 200k.

Sadly, this is what you get for 200k in Irvine:

<a href="http://www.irvinehousingblog.com/blog/comments/under-200k/">http://www.irvinehousingblog.com/blog/comments/under-200k/</a>

looks like it sold for 150k....maybe there is a chance :)

I don't think you'll find anything like that. We might be piecing together our own 4 bedroom house. Its actually a duplex that we'll make kinda his and her's. We don't know yet, but the price will be approximately 420kish. Still not bad for a combined sqft of 2200.

good luck

My plan is to get a Single Family Detached House (built between 2003 - 2008) in irvine (around 2500 sqft 4bed/3bath) for 650k MAX between January - March of 2010 in area like Woodbury, Portola Springs, and Northwood II. Ideal home is like Villa Rosa in Woodbury plan 1 2600 square feet. These homes are going for 800k - 1 million right now.

Am i Dreaming?

Yup. Absolutely not going to happen. I'd bet every penny of that big fat number in my username that its not going to happen. Maybe a nice 1900, 2000 square foot place for around then... but 2600? Nah.

no one knows what will happen in 2010, but if the local mkt falls another 20% by 2010 then its possible. same house will cost 640k.

lets talk in GRM terms, even if u use 250 GRM for new homes then also 2600 sqft home should be around 650k.

i will say its quite possible.
