The battery in your transponder dies and you have to flag the guard to let you in but he has to check your ID first and now there's a long line of cars behind you. Or someone else's battery dies and you're stuck at the back of that long line and your kid JUST WANTS TO GET HOME! Or a visitor goes to the transponder gate instead of the guard gate and now you and he (and everyone behind you) have to back up so he can go through the visitor gate. Or you need to leave all your guests' names with the guard, who screws it up and can't find your guests' names on the list anyway and they call you on their cell phone and say they can't get in. Or Joe the Plumber gives up and turns around when he can't get in because he has ten other customers to see that day, and now you're stuck with a kitchen faucet spraying water into your backed-up garbage disposal. And, of course, the higher HOA cuz those guards and gate repairs ain't cheap.
All good points, but you missed one: In-laws must call before dropping by. Those negatives suddenly don't seem so negative now, do they?
That's until the in-laws figure out that they can just follow another car in.
