Irvine to vote on proposed interim amphitheater near Great Park

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program

last time i read, there is a proposal for an entrance/exit, onramp/offramp at trabuco/great park which was funded already from 5/133 which i'm assuming is free?

don't know who has more info on it, but doesn't look to be anytime soon
Nothing quite like quoting yourself, lol
But there's construction on the 133, positive that there will be onramp/offramp at trabuco/great park to the 133, so it'll alleviate sand canyon a little bit, increase traffic on the free portion of 133

I thought when this last prop up there's a hold on the free onramp/offramp. but it would make more sense now since that's the entrance to the great park now. would love it so i can skip paying the $$ just to get to irvine blvd to get back home to PP.

I'm not surprise the thing passed given 5P has their preferred council now after recent election, but it is interesting that no one bothered to show up to speak up against it.

Is cemetery land swap next?

This is what was proposed in 2008 (to be completed in 2025), but as I understood, funding was killed.

WTF? The city thinks there will be no significant impact to surrounding  traffic.

"City staff determined that the construction and operation of the amphitheater would not have much impact on area traffic, noise, light and glare. However, Mayor Pro Tem Lynn Schott said she is worried about added traffic in the area, especially when sporting and other events coincide with the concerts."

must've missed the window to read that doc, so they said it was nixed? interesting...

I was just driving 133N to 5N to Sand Cyn the other day, and looked at the major construction going on, it appeared they were moving a lot of dirt around and grading, and what appeared to look like an offramp... and there were several large construction vehicles around Great Park Blvd where the offramp would be... guess we'll have to see if it'll still happen

I imagine carmagedon at the Sand Canyon / I5 interchange during concert days.

Hope they move that bus yard and open up the new Marine Way entrance soon.  That should alleviate some traffic jam.

Note the planned new Marine Way/Sand Canyon intersection on the attached map.

Is the 133 Great Park Blvd exit only for SouthBound traffic, or NorthBound as well?

If this gets me a free NorthBound exit onto Great Park Blvd from the 133, I'm all for it.

For both it seems, if it does go through.

Man.. i hate that irvine quick records site, but from what I can tell, here's what it'll look like:http://legacy.cityofirvine.org/civica/filebank/blobdload.asp?BlobID=20555
(Figure 5.12-9), it'll have on/off ramp to Great Park Blvd, also shows that Portola Pkwy will go to Foothill Ranch, Jeffrey going past the landfill and toll, Marine way to rockfield...

Page 44 indicates it's still on the plan

caltran:http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist12/DEA/5widening/Appendices/Appendix_K_RTP_FTIP.pdf
says completion date of 2020

and for yellow jizz, traffic pollution:http://www.octa.net/pdf/2016-ADT.pdf

cheers thanks for digging up the stuff AW.

It looked like that the irvine record site just gives a link for a specific instance of document retrieval

If its in two recent budget plans it seems likely its in the works then. probably what they've been working on there then.I suppose if you're buying in Cypress Village East and one of the homes near the off ramp it maybe disclosed during purchase process in one of the thick disclosure packs maybe?

If they really build it out, I may keep the office at 200 Spectrum after all since it'll be a much quicker zip to/from office. For "free" too heh.

Might be kind of cool.  I can probably just take a very long walk with the wife to catch a show.  It takes that long to get out of the parking lot anyways.  LOL
