But I am a n00b... I've only been here for a year... so that was before my time.
For the purpose of a US census, you would think that they would still break out the different regions/races/ethnicities that make up the Caucasian category (like they did with Asians)... so they can figure out who are the Babylonians or what not.

You can get information about ancestry and country of origin (if they are immigrants) if you are looking for a breakdown of "white" people. In Irvine out of 61754 foreign born immigrants (about 1/3 of the total population), 4970 are from Iran (~ 8%). Just generate detailed data sets from the census data.
