http://www.scag.ca.gov/resources/pdfs/Orange/Irvine.pdf < similar to this but much more detailed.

I was wondering if any of you remember the link that 24 or 25 posted up on IHB a while back. It was the most conclusive demographics information I've seen on Irvine and I can't seem to locate it again on the search box. It had a all the median income, housing 5bed/4bed/3bed, population, ethnic break down, jobs and industry breakdown. Actually I had gotten the Asian ethnic break down from this report.

If anyone remembers where that link is, I would really appreciate it if you can post it here.

Thank you

Mcdonna, unfortunately it is not that one. I swear it was either 24 or 25 w/ $100k who posted that link about 8 months ago and I was really impressed with how detailed the data was. I was able to easily find it on IHB seach if I looked up "Irvine Demographics" but now it is no longer there. My mistake for not downloading that pdf file back then. Thanks anyways.

No problem. I'm a big fan of trawling the census data for useless info.

That's a great find. It's amusing how obsolete the data is already, even though it's just a couple years old. For Riverside, they have less than 10% of owner-occupied housing units being worth less than $200,000 (57% worth between $300k and $500k). I would guess that, today, over half are now worth less than $200k.

Orly?

Wow... that's news to me.

No wonder there are 100k+ "Caucasians" in Irvine.

Funny anecdote... back when the US was having problems with the Ayatollah, my Iranian friends would refer to themselves as Persians (I would ask them were is the country of Persia). Then when the US was having problems with Hussein, they were back to calling themselves Iranians and the Iraqis where referring to themselves as Middle Easterners.

I guess they could have just said they were Caucasians.

Interesting. Wow.. that's news to me too.

"Iran" means land of the Aryans. The name always has been used to describe the country, a multiethnic state populated mainly by Caucasian tribes, of which the Persians are the plurality group. Persia was used because the ancient Persian empire was founded in the Pars Province by King Cyrus the Great, author of the earliest known declaration of human rights. Reza Shah formally changed the name to Iran in the 1930s so that it would reflect a multiethnic pan-national society.

Enlighten me where I was supposed to click on which race when doing exams, job applications, driver's license?

I knew I was having a dejavu that really happened. I'm surprised that I remembered this from nearly 2 years ago.

[quote author="JoonB" date=1250578314]Yes we talked about this many times. Profette did a great job explaining this. I am surprised irvine-home-owner didn't use the search button.

The search button is for n00bs!!!

But I am a n00b... I've only been here for a year... so that was before my time.

For the purpose of a US census, you would think that they would still break out the different regions/races/ethnicities that make up the Caucasian category (like they did with Asians)... so they can figure out who are the Babylonians or what not.

Because if you want to get technical... aren't we all Caucasians?
