iPhone 5

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I guess Apple just can't keep things under wraps anymore... LTE, 4" screen (1136x640 so an extra row for apps) and taller form factor are the major changes.

Iphone 5 was a conservative effort on Apple's part. Nothing unexpected or groundbreaking when compared with current top Android devices. The exterior design while new is not too different from the 4s. I haven't held one yet, but reviewers say it feels significantly lighter. Having said that, I would still consider upgrading my phone just to get LTE and a larger screen.

So I guess we have to wait another two years (next year expect iPhone 5s) before we get a more dramatic change to the iPhone.

in 20 years... the iphone20... pure jedi

Bleh... didn't wait up until midnight... went to pre-order this morning and the wait time is already 2 weeks.

According to BGR, the initial iPhone 5 stock sold out from Apple in less than an hour.

So did anyone "stock" up on AAPL?

IHO,

Sorry I took your phone. Mine should arrive on 9/21. You can always pre-order via Walmart or individual carriers. If you are a real fanatic you can even camp out at the Apple store in the Spectrum at midnight on the 20th.

PS9,

I agree...painful to move to a new connector and Apple charges $30-40 for an adapter! But the smaller Lightning connector will be simpler to use (i.e. bidirectional) and makes for a lighter device with more space for other goodies.

Apple support is pretty good.

Last year I couldn't pre-order the 4S from Apple because of an issue with AT&T's security code so I pre-ordered through AT&T but they wouldn't let me use a different shipping address so I had to stay home and wait for it.

I reset my passcode and was able to get into Apple's ordering system but there was no option to change the shipping address. I jumped on Apple chat and the support person told me about a trick to change my billing address on AT&T and then redo the order with Apple and it will show my shipping address as the AT&T billing address... worked perfectly so now I don't have to stay home, it will ship to my office.

But since iacrenter took mine... I'll have to wait an extra week or so (I'm hoping that my Chinese cousins at Foxconn work extra hard to shorten that time). :)

Wow... 2 million pre-orders for the iPhone 5 in the first 24 hours... doubled last year's iPhone 4S pre-orders of 1 million.

AAPL is almost at $700 right now.

Remember last year when people didn't think the lines were very long for the 4S because it was just a small update... I think the lines are going to be very long this year.

Saw one in the wild today. Had a client with a iP4 and a iP5 with him. Holy smokes that thing is thin. Very light. Has a nice sturdy feel to it. My Sammy G III is a bit heavier than the 5 although I'm still enthralled with the GIII screen, more so now that I've had a chance to see the iPhone 5 up close.

Anyone get theirs today?

Loving the new LTE speed! Phone feels very light and thin even compared to the 4s. Construction feels very premium and the extra screen RE is much appreciated. Apps feel a little faster launching than the 4s. All in all happy so far.

Is the reception better?

Do u have AT&T or Verizon?  I was looking at the coverage map on AT&T website and it didn't look like AT&T had LTE here in OC.
