It's been several years since I converted everything to Apple. I was nervous at first but generally speaking, Apple products just work. There is something to be said about a company that can integrate both hardware and software. I also appreciate the simplicity of its user interface and and beautiful industrial designs.

Sure...it works if you control everything...hardware, environments, apps, and developers.  Android is the anti-thesis of that.  I do have to say that I almost never have issues with my Android OS...Samsung is getting better at developing native apps and at worst, I just restart my phone.

Apple will always appeal to a significant portion of the population  because they don't care about customization or adaptability...they just want it to work.  The rest of us with be happy with the flexibility and customization that Android offers.

I love Google...think they are an incredible company and marvel at how they innovate, but at the end of the day, I will be happy when I replace my Samsung with one of those iphone's.  This of course is presuming I can get one of those phones for pretty much free.

Well...you could never get a new Iphone for free.  The point of an Android is competition...you don't like your Samsung...go get a HTC, a LG, a Xiaomei, etc...you can even get the basic version in a Nexus.

I have had issues with my Samsung phones in the past but I kept going back to getting one because I think it's a better phone with a far better OS.  Galaxy S2, S4, and now S6 (which is actually very much like an Apple phone).  Samsung Pay should be really good.
I've gotten them for free before. Maybe not the first day, but a month or two in. And I certainly hope I can again.  My issues with my android aren't hardware related, it is software related.  The apple just works better. Sorry, it just does (for my basic uses). Their are certain limitations of the apple too...none of them are perfect, but using both, I prefer the apple (if the costs are equal).  And I'm not an apple fan boy by any stretch.  Only apple products I've ever owned were an ipod, iphone (have owned 2 total) and a laptop (and while I like the laptop I'd never buy another apple laptop again...prefer PC). So it isn't like my house is littered with apple products.

Free iphones?  The only time I heard of it is when the 6 came out and the 5c went for "free" (i.e. no down payment).  With the new payment plans, you don't have to pay anything up front but you are paying a significant portion of the phone in the long run.  Maybe you have a better connection that I do.

Again, I never had a problem with my Android...some Samsung battery issues but it was easy enough to replace them (not anymore though).

I have a Mac Book Pro now (due to work) and I think works fine.  But my Dell worked fine too.

Well, I consider my trade in value as part of the process. Especially since the phone traded in was also free.  I don't know if they'll do anything crazy this time, but last time a new iphone came out, I was able to get massive value for some really old smart phones (but that was part of the special incentives). And no, I have no hook-ups at all.

I see...I know AT&T/Verizon/TMobile were offering big money to get people away from each other.  I am sure they will bring back similar offers during the Christmas shopping season.

I have alway kept my devices because of the 2 year contract thing.

Yeah, I always kept as well, which is why I can trade in total pieces of junk and get some money while using the more recent version for a while as a secondary device (aka...baby monitor).  I never had to switch carriers for the deals either.  Been with same carrier for years.
