It's actually OC Sheriff contracted by Lake Forest.

The City of Lake Forest joins nine neighboring cities in South Orange County and two cities in North Orange County that contract with the Orange County Sheriff's Department for law enforcement. Lieutenant Patrick Higa, a 25-year veteran of the Sheriff's Department, serves as the Chief of Police Services.  He manages a staff of five Sergeants, three Investigators, 38 Deputies, an Investigative Assistant, five Community Services Officers, and a Crime Prevention Specialist.

I thought the police cars say Lake Forest on them, no?

Yeah, they do to indicate they're assigned to LF while the back trunk has Orange County Sheriff.

It's definitely Sheriff in FR.  They harassed me at the Dennys....I was the only Asian there at 11 PM.  Last time I hung out with my white friends in FR...I make them come to Irvine now...safer for me.

Right now I have an IP camera on the porch recording motion and storing the images to dropbox.  It's not too useful from a intercom perspective as I would have to open a browser or an app on iPhone just to see them.

For a real intercom system with video this one looks interesting.  Not cheap though.

COSTCO Tustin at District right now is selling the INSTEON Home Monitoring Kit $249.99 which includes 360 ip camera you can control remotely, plus a bunch of other monitoring, dimmer controls, etc.

This could solve your "Who's At the Door" issue by setting that up and logging into any computer or smartphone to check.

For us, to solve "Hey where are you in the house" we just bought a 4 headset DECT cordless phone system with built-in intercom. Now we can communicate from the front of the house to the back and between the floors. Even shouting didn't help.

I also connected it to a VOIP adapter (obihai) which gives us free calling US/CAN via GVoice so the only thing we pay is Internet and have everything -- but we're cheap that way since we need to save for landscaping :P...

Builder had the option for intercom but passed.

Good luck!
