I am going to meet up with Matt Padilla today to talk about the OC recorder's website and the DQ foreclosure numbers. I also will be talking to him about the deliquencies in the MBS pools.

If you have any other questions or topics that I should bring up let me know.

I have a written confidentiality agreement with him so I or we will remain anonymous.

1. Why was Lansner so slow to get the idea that the housing market was tanking? Follow up: Does Lansner like his Kool Aid with or without ice?

2. I would like the Recorders website to offer the actual documents online, even if for a fee per page. Could Matt please put in a good word with his former OCR colleague Jean Pasco and find out if this is even on their Office's to do list?

Umm... that's it. My mind is elsewhere. Sorry.

Wierd I got an error message when I first tried to post this. I didn't mean to post it twice.

EvaL - I will have to refrain from the Lansner comments. I have already given Matt a hard enough time about it. I will mention Jean Pasco and getting the docs online. It's stupid for them not to do it and charge a fee. If title companies can do it why can you?

I was joking about question #1. I wouldn't want to encourage you to be a bad guest.

Jean used to work at the OCR, left there to go to the LAT, and then when Tom Daly became the Clerk-Recorder, she joined his office in some capacity (PR?).

okay, not his responsibility. But why is the OC Recorder's website so pathetic? Florida has better online information access as does San Diego.

graphix,

I would be interested in his opinion on the ongoing credit crunch. Does he believe it will stop short of 20% down, 28% DTI, and 3X income?

What I did find out is Lansner's dad is not doing well. So I think that is the reason why he hasn't been as enthusiastic about his blog. He also works from home so you can't give him crap in person at the OCR building.

What was disappointing is he wouldn't let me touch the bloomberg terminal.

He is going to contact DQ to find out why I have 473 trustee deeds and they have 367. It seems that they may be filtering out anything that is 2 units or more.

I asked about Jean and he said he would ask. If he gets back to me on it that will be another thing.

I also think the OC recorders site sucks. If Chriss Street can spend $1mil on his office I think Tom Daly can spend $100k to get a better website.

IR - I didn't catch your question before I left. I would say that he is just as curious as us. He is still learning and I think he had more questions of me than I did of him.

I will say all in all I respect him as reporter and as a person. It is nice to see a reporter as humble as him who will ask Tanta a question instead of making up some BS.

Eff,

Do you know how much they cost and how much the monthly service is?

Yes they look like an Apple IIc but they cost big bucks epecially if you get the full monthly service like the OCR.

When I can afford it I will have you come and set it up for me. Not it the way EvaL is suggesting though.

Well, it's been a few years, so I don't know exactly what they're using today. It used to be a PC running Windows NT 4.0 with a locked-down user interface (to stop people from using it as an ordinary PC). It used a dedicated DSL circuit for the service.

I've never priced one out.

I don't know what the terminal costs but the monthly service is $1500-$2000 a month. Here is the one I want. OCR has the single screen version.

speaking of The Register, does anyone know what llooll is? I'm too afraid to ask rants..Whenever I read rants posts all I can think is that he/she is laaauuggghhhiiing out looouuuud with incredulity. oh nevermind I googled it...

I wasn't very happy with the several hours I spent on Bloomberg at school a few months ago. It seemed like it's still running an old DOS underneath the surface, and it requires you to use that silly keyboard which really limits any future upgrades. Mouse control is an afterthought. I hope it gets much more useful with time; I can't see it becoming intuitive.
