That sucks bix, sorry. Other than the Galveston area and areas immediately next to Galveston bay (like Kemah and Clear Lake Shores), flooding was not the largest issue with Ike. The wind did most of the damage to buildings and the power grid.
Many people today are going on their third day without power. Several gas stations have full gas trucks sitting at them ready to supply gas, but there is no power to run the gas pumps. Food and water are becoming issues in some areas, but FEMA has supply sites up and running. It is going to be trying times for many people.
