I got a pop up, but I'm too computer/web illiterate to know what it was. I xed it out immediately.

Hov is truly desperate. After Andrew my builder did 't want this type of business. It is difficult & expensive not to build a bunch of stuff all together. You have one house here and another there, and can't use economies of scale, and the govt is all intimidated by what happened and determined to be tough, so getting permits and closing them out becomes a nightmare.

Hmm.. are you guys saying that opening this thread (http://forums.irvinehousingblog.com/discussion/935/how-desperate-are-the-homebuilders/) launches some kind of popup? I just opened it in Internet Explorer and I did not see a pop up. If you have any more details, please let me know. There are no ads on the forums currently.

I think we have a script embedded in here that is malignant.

It is trying to map my network as well. I am using explorer 7 and XP. It brings up and active x warning.

It redirects to :

http://forums.irvinehousingblog.com/discussion/935/how-desperate-are-the-homebuilders/#Item_0

Zovall I think something very recent happened and its just with this thread. Non of the others do it.

Look at the html for some call or redirect.

strange.. i tried using IE 6 and Firefox 2 on Windows XP and I don't that behavior. I found and deleted a SCRIPT tag in the first comment.. is it still acting up? if i can't figure this one, i'll just lock or delete this thread..

I notice it only in this thread. Could be something attached in a picture as well.

Try and delete the link in the post from NS2524. It has a link to msnusers that may be causing this. I Think you need messenger enabled to see the pop up as well.

I did indeed call KHOV and see if they were able to build a VERY small house for me near Big Bear. We will see, the house is tiny though. (About `900 sqft). Anyway, we will see. Good luck

Standard Pacific Swamped

http://www.forbes.com/markets/economy/2008/01/11/stanardpacific-homebuilders-mortgage-markets-equity-cx_ra_0111markets31.html

The housing market's disaster du jour for Friday was builder Standard Pacific (nyse: SPF - news - people ) whose shares plunged 17.6% on news it had retained restructuring and bankruptcy specialist Miller Buckfire as a financial adviser. The implication that the builder might be considering a bankruptcy filing was not lost on investors.

The Irvine, Calif.-based company’s shares slid 47 cents, to $2.20, at the close on Friday. The shares traded above $48 in the summer of 2005 and have been declining steadily since as the housing boom of the early 2000s turned to bust.

Re: Standard Pacific

They are building a unit right next, perhaps even ATTACHED, to the garage of that beautiful mission-type office building on Newport Ave., just right before the 55 as you head out of Newport.

I pass by it all the time, yet I NEVER have seen anyone working on it! Odd...

Humor re: how do you know if the housing markets going up or down?

You could by the ready now house $831,632. Or, hey, wait and collect interest while we build you one 200 sq. ft. bigger for the same price ....
