Housing about to Blowup

:o What a thing to say!

Man, I hate it when my 2 favorite TI'ers argue with each other.  :(

Baby Irvine is a friendly, helpful member who dreams big. After 5+ years the guy has proven he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Trust me when I say he is a much better person than myself and most here. I seriously don't get how someone can be offended by his posts. If you are, then I guess you don't know him well enough. Or, as a wise man here on TI once told me, he's never met such a group of people who care so much about what others think of where they live. I'll second that. I own in O.C., too, in an area probably not Panda-approved for me. If he told me it was not a wise move, I'd listen and say he's got a point - several, actually. Despite investing here, I totally get where he is coming from. He has asked me what's stopping me from exploring another area such as JC. Never once did I take offense to that. Quite the contrary. Baby Irvine is a well-intentioned guy and one heck of a walking encyclopedia. He offers constructive advice and only wants the best for his TI comrades. My brother is also a successful entrepreneur who, after retiring early in life, has encouraged me to move out of state where he is. Hey, when successful people talk - I listen! I often day-dream about what it would be like to live in other areas. Don't you guys do that? Reading about Baby Irvine's life in Atlanta is fun for me. It is something some of us may never get the chance to do. I am happy to celebrate his success and will gladly take any words of advice he feels moved to offer. I think to receive that, you have to be willing to put your pride aside. You have to let go of emotional attachments to material things and image-consciousness. My own observation is that it is something more difficult for men, in particular, to do. You're just wired differently.

Baby Irvine: There is a reason why you never see SoCal posting on the Sabbath. The time is best spent doing what it was created for. You owe it to yourself and your family to focus on what's most important. The best thing about all our "imaginary friends" here is they have an Off switch.

I don't know Baby Irvine very well.  I don't assume that he is bad.  But I don't get why he continues to bash Irvine.  I am sure he is very happy in JC and that there are other who are happy to live there but there are plenty of people who love living in Irvine.  His assumptions about people who live in Irvine is also oft-putting.  My wife and I work hard and save our pennies so that we can buy a house in Irvine.  I do not have rich parents or relatives.  I paid for my own wedding and am paying off student loans.

I mean...how should I take this comment?

Perhaps if i had a rich Asian dad or a rich Asian wife, I may be enjoying life in Irvine, perhaps be lazy, but never have to worry about money or providing for the family.

Funny thing about snark is you need intelligence to use it, but it's malicious and makes people dislike you.  I read that this was one reason Paris Hilton's reality show died and the Kardashian's show is flourishing.  Panda built up a lot of goodwill since 2007.  His current posts are making him less popular, but to the people who've read him since 5 yrs ago, the goodwill isn't gone yet.

Ofcourse, 5 yrs ago, he was still an Irvine cheerleader like many of us. Well not me..maybe..shrug.

At face value.

IMHO, Irvinite's skin is mighty thin regarding any negatives of Irvine.

this thread is turning into another Irvine vs. Non-Irvine thread.  The Non-Irvine camp, whether they live in FR or JC, all think they made a smart choice by buying and living outside of Irvine, having the same or better life style w/o overspending. On the contrary, people who bought in Irvine think they also make a good choice as Irvine's real estate prices are less sensitive to economic downturn and gain more in an up market.

However, the more Non-Irvine camp bashes Irvine, the more it shows how truly popular Irvine is and they are only making the Irvine camp's points stronger.
So far we have
1. Foothill Ranch is the best alternative to Irvine
2. Johns Creek is Irvine in the 90's

What's common here? Irvine is the measuring stick to most cities.

That's actually the same behavior... own it.

Iho, I think you've made your point already. We can agree to disagree. I'm sure you must have much more valuable things to do besides badger people? Maybe IndieDev misses you. You should call him up to do lunch. I didn't like Graphix but I didn't badger him about it, either. I left the guy alone to do his thing, quite unlike this situation where you feel the need to constantly interject / correct / reprimand me. Notice I haven't initiated as much contact with you in the threads in some time (aside from the PM about the house)? There is a reason for that. I was thinking we would both be happier if we kept our distance. I'm not going to be the person you want me to be. I'm going to do what I feel is right. I can live with that and so will you. I am being more gracious than necessary here.

.... !!! H O M E R S I M P S O N....

You and wife like Korean Dramas? This one is the best in 2013... if you only speak chinese and no Korean .. subtitles provided below. If you can't read english ....  :-X    sorry bro.

Revisionist history.

Go back and re-read this thread... I didn't address you until you started accusing "us" of laughing at Panda.

I thought the picture I posted was a funny joke... but if you feel I was "reprimanding" you... I apologize.

1. Foothill Ranch is the best alternative to Irvine
2. Johns Creek is Irvine in the 90's

What's common here? Irvine is the measuring stick to most cities.

The #1 comment was made by Bkshopr on the old IHB. He told us on IHB that he was an architect who designed homes in Irvine. Bk was also one of the most critical people of Irvine. It speaks volumes when the guy who designed the homes tells the buyers to go elsewhere. This person also chose to leave Irvine when deciding on a home purchase for himself in favor of an area which meets his personal standards. Do you feel this reflects well on Irvine?

The #2 comment refers to what Irvine used to be. Not to what it is today. As it mentioned in the article posted recently (I'd have to dig for the link) - the city official proclaimed proudly that visitors to Irvine would not recognize the city from year to year. I don't think that's anything to brag about. I was once an Irvine Lover as well but sadly, no longer recognized its beauty as it disappeared, particularly with the inferior new housing. (Product cycle: Development > Introduction > Growth > Maturity > Decline.) I'm sure Baby Irvine hopes to ride that JC wave to maturity... and hopefully will hop off at decline.

Homer,
Why you so racist bro? First I thought you are joking around... I don't think you are joking around?
