HS, I would highly recommend reading Bourgeois Nightmares. It will even explain why HOAs are so ubiquitous.

As a public worker, my job is to serve the needs of the public - especially the poor and needy. Although I value living in a nice neighborhood next to good schools, I have no qualms with being close to a homeless shelter. Jails and gangs would be a different story. But homeless people are helpless, not dangerous.

But homeless people are helpless, not dangerous.

I suppose OC homeless are completely different from LA homeless. { sarcasm }

True, most benefit and are the "helpless" you speak of....but there are plenty of questionable characters amongst them, gaming the system....or just plain nuts. Don't think that once word gets out that there's a nice new shelter in OC, that some of LA's finest won't be coming on down for a visit.

The Village of Hope is the first place in Orange County where homeless and poor families can transform their lives while staying together. I think homeless families need all the help they can get and I am glad that the OC rescue mission has it in their hearts to help them. We can't expect everyone else to take care of our problem.
