Harvard student arrested for bomb hoax to avoid final exam

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
My kids have been on all of them including the Metro in DC.

But they wouldn't give up their cars to live in an area served by any of them.

Being street smart requires consistency. a 2 week vacation or being in the subway once or twice does not prepare the kids for the real world. However that is what UCI is for. 46% Asians.

How are their kids going to be able to handle commutes on the NYC subway, DC metro, SEPTA, Boston T, Chicago L or MUNI or BART, let alone the London underground? Because guess what - you have to sit next to whoever sits down in your seat.
Heh... my kids have been on all of those except DC Metro (maybe next year), SEPTA (not sure if we'll ever visit PA, and the London underground (we've been on it BK, before kids).

Hey, I didn't say they were prepared... just exposed.

No one can really be fully prepared... but given that my kids will spend most of their lives in Irvine, I guess I could send them to Asia or the Middle East for college. :)

Maybe an 18 year old girl taking the train to Union Station every day might qualify for living outside the bubble?

And she had no problems when she spent a summer in London either.

The point being, she had NO ISSUES getting by on the train and being OUTSIDE of the Irvine bubble.

She survived fine in living in a village in Mexico for a time as well but that didn't involve trains............. she rode the bus and managed with her gringo Spanish she learned at Northwood High........ clearly not the same Spanish spoken in her village...... lol!

And in case you haven't been to Europe in a while............. English will get you pretty far in any modern area including France if you're nice looking.

chiclets? un dolar por pavor.

It was in response to this:

"In that case, their parents should stop being elitist and start exposing them to the real world, because they are not setting themselves up to be able to interact with other people who are not living in their little bubble.  Considering that there is a whole world outside of Irvine, how difficult is this really?

How are their kids going to be able to handle commutes on the NYC subway, DC metro, SEPTA, Boston T, Chicago L or MUNI or BART, let alone the London underground? Because guess what - you have to sit next to whoever sits down in your seat.

Or how to manage getting through an airport to get to and from their colleges? Its not like there is a special terminal for sheltered folks..."

So then you would disagree with kids coming from the bubble life of Irvine being able to handle commutes on the NYC subway, DC metro, SEPTA, Boston T, Chicago L or MUNI or BART, let alone the London underground? Because guess what - you have to sit next to whoever sits down in your seat.

And going to Europe on biz doesn't count. Businesses would be expected to have someone available to handle an English speaking person. I'm talking about a kid getting by in the city.
