Just got back from the pediatrician and it seems that many cases of flus right now are most likely to be H1N1.
It's to be treated like the normal flu and should work itself out, but just be wary of the high-risk cases like babies, pregnant woman, elderly and anyone with respiratory concerns.
She said they tend not to test most cases because by the time the culture would come back (the current wait is 5-7 days), the flu would have been gone. The rapid test can tell you if it's Influenza A but even a negative result on that test isn't 100% accurate that you still don't have H1N1. They just make sure they watch the high-risk demographics and if flu symptoms re-arise within the 7-day period to come back immediately.
A friend's son tested positive for H1N1 a few weeks back, but it was just like a normal flu and he's fine now.
She did say that because it's so contagious, to stay home longer than normal not just to rest but to prevent it from spreading further.
Let's see what I post in a few days.
