I'm unable to stream at work but reading from some of the comments shown below, it seems like it's pretty funny.

<a href="http://jezebel.com/5079491/daily-show-sarah-palins-so-dumb-she-thinks-the-alphabet-has-22-letters">22 letter alphabet</a>

Did anyone see Hardball last night? Chris Matthews was discussing a story leaked to the press from people inside the McCain campaign about Palin's ignorance to basic civics issues. For instance, she reportedly could not name the countries in North America. She believed Africa was a country and not a continent. She truly did not understand the role of the Vice President as outlined in the Constitution. This extreme ignorance put the McCain campaign at a disadvantage because Palin's handlers either had to sequester her from the public, in particular question and answer interviews, because she is embarrassingly ignorant, or they had to coach her so much that her answers appeared canned and memorized.

See post 17.

FWIW, Newsweek broke the story, Fox News confirmed it.

<a href="http://www.irvinehousingblog.com/forums/viewthread/2968/P0/">Do I still look like a douchebag for saying Sarah wasn't qualified?</a>

I don't know how much credence I am going to give an anonymous source in a losing campaign. I find it hard to believe that, if she was really that stupid and uneducated, it wouldn't have come out in a campaign for Governor that included a primary fight in which she was running againt the incumbent Governor and a general election in which she was running a former Governor. I think she was woefully unprepared and uninformed for a rabid national press corp, but the kinds of charges being made now strain credulity and certainly would have been exposed by either Murkowski or Knowles.

I see the Republican Circular Firing Squad of blame is in full effect.

Somebody call the Democrats and see if they want 1984 back again.

I too find it hard to believe that she really is that uninformed, but I can't help but to go back to the Katie Couric interview. Look, I know she was nervous and all, but when she couldn't name a newspaper or magazine that she reads, I really believe that she hasn't been outside of her little Alaska bubble. I know that a lot of people think Africa is a country, particularly people without passports. Geez, I helped my mom plan a safara it and was shocked that she thought the continent was one big country rather than 52.

I don't think Palin is stupid, but I think she lacks curiosity, which is why she doesn't know a lot of things that she should even in the position of governor of Alaska. If you are not curious, you are not going to seek out information. This is ditto on Bush. Both of them have been comfortable surrounding themselves with only those that have the same beliefs and lack the curiosity to know much outside of their comfortable bubbles.

Holy sh*t! Africa is continent and not a country? I guess you learn something new everyday. Next thing you will tell me is that it was impossible for Jesus to roam around with the dinosaurs. I think I need to stay away from the politics threads, I can only take so much learnings in one day.

It sure does sound like she thinks there is a country called Africa, unless she happens to be referencing South Africa, but I have never heard SA ever simply called "Africa"

?So, no, I think that if there are allegations based on questions or comments that I made in debate prep about Nafta, and about the continent versus the country when we talk about Africa there, then those were taken out of context,? Ms. Palin said.

<a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27602873">Palin calls critics among McCain aides "jerks."</a>

2012 is what this is all about. Palin is wildly popular among Republicans and wildly unpopular with everybody else. There are a lot of Republicans who don't want her to get nominated in 2012, either because she's almost certain to lose embarrassingly or because they are supporters of somebody else. So some have started a smear campaign.

I think she's pretty ignorant, but when I hear "thinks Africa is a country" my BS detector starts ringing. And in the Fox News clip I saw on the subject the Fox reporter was being very unprofessional - egging on the Palin critic and in no way asking for confirmation. These are the same people who said McCain had an illegitimate mulatto daughter (referring to his adopted Indian daughter) - you have to be suspicious with these folks.

The things Palin got dinged for during the campaign were either on tape (Couric) or on records (the clothes purchases). For these kinds of accusations, anonymous sources with (probably) strong motives to distort simply aren't acceptable evidence.

I have to imagine that Democrats everywhere are having wet dreams about the possibility of her running in 2012. For their own sake, I hope the Republicans nominate someone competitive in 2012.

next she can screw the whole GOP.

This is total stupid talk. no way in hell she gets nominated.
