One thing I've observed is that it is different during this downturn. Typically, I've kept busy in downturns because closing a manufacturing business requires environmental work to resolve issues of what may be left on or beneath the closed property. But this time, there really isn't as much of that work left to do. Those businesses were closed during previous downturns, and few were created here during upswings. We can't all be administrators, regulators, and service providers. At some point in the economic chain, somebody has to grow something, build something, or otherwise create tangible wealth.
