This may be in the wrong section but not sure where to put it.

I was just wondering I have just moved to Irvine and I was wondering if there were any good furniture stores around the area? Ive visited a couple and most of them are either way way overpriced or have shut down.. So if anyone has a good furniture store they could recommend Id appreciate it. Im looking for mid to high end furniture. No ikea particle wood stuff but no 10,000 dining table either. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

They have a nice showroom and you can get PotteryBarnesque furnishings for less.

We will probably order from them once we move.

Ethan Allen is in the Tustin Market Place (off of Jamboree) along with several other independants. Crystal Court (now South Coast Plaza II) has good flagship stores of most of the major lifestyle chains (Pottery Barn, Crate, Z Gallerie, Resto Hardware) as well as the Macy's Home. Room and Board is just across the street as well.

We just bought a bunch of new furniture from Living Spaces at the Spectrum. While I probably won't impress any of the Real Housewives of OC by saying I shopped at Living Spaces, I probably also won't have any of them over to dinner, either. While they have some low end stuff, we were very pleasantly surprised with their nicer quailty lines.

Everything we ended up buying was made by Ashley, but the prices were lower than at the actual Ashley store in Fountain Valley. Another nice thing is that the Living Spaces sales team is not on commission, so they don't follow you around the store like they are hunting their prey. That's worth it right there.

^ I love Ashley furniture too. (I'm using an Ashley computer armoire right now.) I like the concept of Living Spaces for things like tables, beds, and dressers. The only drawback is when it comes to couches, chairs, and the like, you don't get any choice of fabric and colors. What you see is what you get.

Thanks for the replies

I think Im looking for more contemporary furniture. Nothing too flowery for me haha. I think above all else though Id take comfort over design.

My favorite contemporary furniture company is Cisco Brothers. They are not in Irvine but LA is not that far from here. Cisco's furniture is very comfortable, made out of sustainable materials, and made locally in South Central L.A. so you can be comfortable and know you are not destroying the planet or the local economy.

Living Spaces is good too... bought some couches at the La Mirada one just before they opened the Irvine Spectrum location.

If the Irvine store is like the La Mirada one, the shopping experience is pretty good. Even had a kids daycare ala Ikea-tyle.

The good thing about Living Spaces is same/next day delivery so you don't have to worry about the store going under with your money.

cantoni is ridiculously overpriced. i would go there if i had a penthouse at the palms hotel to decorate though.

The design consultants are very professional and seem to know their stuff.

They ask you about price range and budget before making recommendations.

My wife and I were just looking for nice, but relatively inexpensive (better than Ikea, much cheaper than Ethan Allan) family-room furniture in the last week. Our favorites (Wickes, Krause's) were also gone. After lots of web browsing and walking around, we also ended up with Living Spaces. In fact, the furniture should be delivered tomorrow.

One strange thing: we went there around lunchtime on Sunday and eventually picked out what we wanted, including the tables on display with the sofa and loveseat. We had to go home and get the carpet sample we were considering to pick the sofa fabric color. When we went back after dinner, they had changed all the accent tables. One of the salespeople had to walk around the whole store to find where they ended up so we could order them.

They?re local.

That looks like my style of furniture. Contemporary/Retro/Modern. We have similar furniture.

Never been there, but looks nice. However, based on the the money spent on flash design and their website...i'm going to assume prices of furniture are expensive too.

EDIT: Yup...What acmpe said.

Wickes. That was our favorite. They had plenty of furnture that was retro/modern but with a great price. I don't know which furniture store picked up Wickes suppliers...but we can't seem to find them. Sigh..

Cool thing about Living Spaces: we're getting the furniture delivered today. In addition to calling us last night to give us a 2-hour window, I just got an email from them with a link to their delivery website. It shows all the scheduled deliveries for the truck with our stuff and shows the status of each!

Yeah... in today's economy... buying from places that have the furniture in-stock (or from a used-furniture store) seems to be a the safest bet.

We almost bought a sofa from Levitz and then they went under... I read the stories about people who had a hard time getting their deposits back.

thanks for the info so far

Has anyone bought anything from Thomasville before? Im interested in buying a desk from them but I wa sjust wondering if anyone had bought anything from them before and knows of the quality
