Gold

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Have you folks been buying some gold lately? I tried to buy 5 American Eagles today, called several dealers, nobody has anything in stock.

Panda must have gotten there before me :)

Seriously though, I read blackvault's posts about the Dow/Gold ratio and decided that it really does make sense to stock up on some gold...

I've thought about it, but how can I know that those coins wouldn't be a fake? I'm no expert by any means, and spending 5K on a questionable product is too much risk for me...

You're much more likely to get nothing than a fake. I'm sure stealing $5000 from someone carries more lenient penalties than forging treasury coins. I personally wouldn't buy $5000 of anything on Ebay unless I could pay for it and pick it up in person, but if you go with a professional trader with stellar feedback you'll probably get good service and a good product.

Total whackage on gold right now. Haven't heard much from Panda lately. First it is the dollar, now it is gold. It's like double dipping in the ugly pool.

So much for Gold @ $1000 before year-end.

[quote author="morekaos" date=1223518111]back on the short side of gold at $905.00. Volatility can be your friend.</blockquote>

Gold $751.60 down $21.40....Me like

I guess the asset deflation is taking no prisoners...everything is getting shot whether it's a metal, a fluid, or food.

I agree...

Fool's Gold

On EBay and the Home Shopping Network, coins sell at fantasy prices. A set of Eagles in four different weights was offered on HSN at $4,999.99. In gold, it's worth about $1,450. Prices like these take advantage of neophytes. A coin dealer might sell a four-coin set for $1,850, Travers says

It's down over $40 as we speak...the asset deflation is taking no prisoners (me thinks some gold bulls were on margin and taking in the nuts now).

[quote author="morekaos" date=1224730630]Try down $50.70 at $722.30 (dec), I guess the old war cry "600 here we come" is back in fashion</blockquote>
Wow, what a move. I think I may have stated this in another thread, but "whatever had a parabolic increase in price in the recent year or two will meet the same fate as housing is." What comes up (especially when it's too fast), must come down!

When Panda gives up and sells, then we are at the bottom.

Are you kidding me Irvine Renter??.. I am loading it up on Gold right now. I am practically completely out of the U.S. Paper Trash. It sure does feel like buying a nice SFR in Newport Coast for only $500,000. The U.S. paper trash will Crash.
