Plummers is just one step up from IKEA, imho, and doesn't move well (though of course any furniture moves better than IKEA's, which dissolves).

Crate and Barrel has some high quality (and high price) furniture lines.  on the order of $3k for a good couch.

I agree with the CB couch.  We have the axis couch and that thing is super comfy and has held up well.

We now have the pottery barn greenwich love seat and sofa, they look nice and are very comfy but not as durable for some reason.

We bought our sofas and dining set from Room and Board a couple of years ago.  Very happy with the quality and service.  One sofa had a minor defect at the beginning.  The repair process went very smoothly, and they gave us a loaner to use during the repair.  We also have a few pieces from CB and Pottery Barn.  I'd say Room and Board has the best quality and service out of the three stores.  Their stuff is expensive but worth the money, especially for furniture that will be used heavily.

Plummer's is a few rungs up from IKEA.  I would say that Linder's and Living Spaces is one step up from IKEA.

Next rung up would be EasyLife.

Then it would be Plummer's.  Plummer's have some custom pieces which requires special order.  Those look nice, price is up there too.

Then Macy's Home Life, West Elm, Costco, C&B, Pottery Barn, etc are all inbetween Plummer's and Cantoni.

If you can buy Cantoni, you win.  You've made it to the top of the ladder.  Ironic that Cantoni is right next to Plummer's in Irvine.

I've owned pieces of furniture from all these places except for West Elm, C&B, Pottery Barn, and Cantoni.  I've seen their furniture but didn't quite fit my taste.  What did fit my taste didn't fit my checking account.  ::)

I'm curious about Room&Board.  I still have a couple of kids beds, dining room table, and an entertainment center I need to buy.  Am looking forward to visiting R&B this weekend.  ;D

Never heard of cantoni - checked their site. A lot of their stuff was kind of ugly. Just cause things are expensive doesn't mean it looks good. I'm sitting on very comfy sectional from Coscto we got for like 800-900. It's interesting they don't have pricing on most of their stuff.

Room&Board had some really nice stuff. I think you will like it! Excited for you this weekend! Anyone heard of Bo Concept in LA? How does Z Gallery Outlet in Torrance compare?

Very true, price isn't everything.

Cantoni is all imported Italian furniture.  It's very artsy ... but it's strangely comfortable.  I can't even afford a bar stool from Cantoni.

I love Room&Board also. When we moved a few years back, we bought some furniture from Room&Board and some from West Elm. Totally different quality. Probably wouldn't buy from West Elm again (even though they are cheaper....you do get what you pay for.) Like others, we do like the simple, clean lines, modern furnitures.  We did check out Living Spaces and Easy Life (can't say anything about their quality but we just didn't like their styles too much), Design Within Reach (awesome stuff, but way too pricey), Plummers (wide range of stuff...some good, some bad),  and Crate&Barrel (like the designs but heard from some of my friends and read some of their online reviews that quality isn't all that great). Bottom line: my wife and I believe good furniture is a worthy investment if you plan on keeping it for a long time. With that being said, we've been extremely happy with our Room&Board furniture and will probably go there again next time we need more stuff.

West Elm and Pottery Barn are sister companies,  though they don't share many of the same suppliers.

Much of the upholstery you see at Crate, PB, Z Gallerie, and Room and Board are from the same manufacturers  (ie. Bernhardt, Mitchell Gold, etc).  Only Pottery Barn has their own manufacturing arm -  and even then,  they still buy some of their upholstery from other manufacturers.  Frames will sit/ perform differently from the same retailer because often they were made by different OEMs.  It's often hard to tell,  but the salespeople know and should tell you if you ask them.

Room and Board is pretty transparent about their manufacturers.  They have all sorts of details on their website.

Love my Pottery Barn (mitchell gold) Manhattan club chair.  Most comfy chair I've ever owned :)

My wife and I have been on a furniture spree recently!  As much as it is fun, it gets quite pricey even when we aren't shopping at high dollar places.  Luckily, we were able to find pieces at different places like Ikea, West Elm, Crate & Barrel, Z Gallerie, Target, Cost Plus World Market, and Plummers so it covers really cheap to cheaper furniture, haha.

Anyone know any good patio furniture places?  I want to get a Barista set along with a "cantilever" umbrella and semi circle lounge seating.

Anyone ever come across a nice outdoor storage ottoman or piece of furniture to store pillows?  If the patio furniture sits outside, I'd never want to sit on it before having to spend so much time cleaning it.

Listening to people talk about buying furniture makes me curious to see what style furniture you are buying and how you decorate your house.  Cribs, TI, style, haha.

I already googled to see what Homie's chair looks like.

I'm selling this if you are interested.  9' round with the cement bases (sold separately on website).  We have a cover for it so it's in good condition.  Let me know if you're interested and I can give you a TI discount :)

Damn I'm tempted to buy this just so I can see what bones looks like in real life.

would that look work with your yard after the HoA requested changes go in?

i wont be making any changes if the HOA requests them. but that umbrella would look just fine in the yard. we saw one of those in one of the models in lambert ranch and thought about getting one.  we may at some point.

Now with that comment, she's suspect and won't respond to my PM regarding the umbrella, haha.

Thanks QWERTY!
