Effen...

Just like 99.9% of the boobs in Newport!

Anyways, I noticed alot of the high end places are very loney this christmas.

On a interesting note, It was PACKED at Wal-Mart (where I pick up some ammo). I felt very queazy just being in there with that many people.

What and where do you shoot? Wal-Mart has good prices on ammo.

I am in AZ and it is a great place for shooters. I used to shoot at On-Target about 5 years ago. It got pretty expensive.

Have 2 CCWs and can carry in about 30 states.

Don't leave home without it!! I don't mean a credit card. LOL

Enjoy!!

Bltserv and XSOcal,

I have a few different items. I'm mostly a rifle/CCR shooter. Mostly right now i shoot 1911's, Mosin Nagats, CZ-52 and TT-33s. Plus I have an errant Barrett in .50 BMG and .416 for those long distance tack pushing. I usually buy the ammo at wally world and then borrow a buddies toy (9mm). I want to get another 1911, but they are getting REALLY pricey nowadays. We will see

So has anybody had a particularly expensive request from their significant other? Me? I had to pay for the wife's dance lessons (25 to be exact).... Not exactly cheap, but lots fun.

That is very heavy duty stuff. I use a Browning Hi-power 9mm (toy) for most practice and outdoor stuff or carry. My hand cannon is a Colt Anaconda 6" .44 mag I bought in late 80's.

What are your thoughts of a better rifle: AK-47 or AR-15 Bushmaster? I don't know much about them but will probably get one or the other. We can have 30 round mags in this state or even 200 rd drums. I will use it when I go 4 wheeling in the forest and a little range practice.

Thanks

xsocal,

Well, the rifles are certainl in the VERY high powered range, but the pistols aren't too bad. The 7.62x25mm is a smaller bullet but it comes SCREAMING out of the barrel at 1600+fps and with the higher powered stuff 2300fps. This little round has been KNOWN to defeat level II body armor. I just buy it because it is cheap fun plinking ammo.

I like the AK-47 ... alot. I'd get either its brother's the 74 or the 90. They are very simple and just short of hitting them with anti-tank mines, they WILL work. The AR's are great modern weapons, but you will pay for that modern design as well as the little .223 stuff is ok but when you have only one shot, its not going to cut it. I'd get either a FAL in .308 or .30-06. Have you ever though about a SKS with some custom work?

How about a good old fashioned Thompson? You're not going to be pushing tacks at 400 yards, but you'll be able to handle ALOT of things. I'd take a good look at http://www.classicarms.us/index.html

Good luck

p.s. is this your expensive christmas gift? We need to start a new thread if we continue.

There is KARMA!!

Thanks for the info and the link. I am leaning towards the 74. Reliability, price, and cost of ammo are the reason. Funny you mention the Thompson since I thought about that or an M1-A .30 cal carbine.

It would be a "self-gift" but my wife would also do a little "plinking" with it.

Our gifts this year have been lots of homemade goodies rather than buying junk. Our main gift is a trip to Blueman Group concert. We are more into experiences rather than things these days.

Enjoy and have a relaxing holiday season.

My idea of going to the range... .22 pistol with box of 500 rounds, on-sale from Turner's.

Large caliber ammo = $$$$$!

Maybe we need an IHB shooting day !. We get some Mozilo targets printed up ?

Just kidding. I a have a Sig .45. Son has the .40. Son has an AR15.

He had to get take a class before they let him shoot it. Guess they have some holes in the roof and rounds were

heading over to the shopping center across the freeway. Oops. Think about that next time your over at the Kaliedescope.

He enjoys it. But with the California Law you have to have the clip non removable. So reloading at the range is a pain. So I think he may be selling it if he has not already. He is going for a 1911 .45 last I hear. Guess that .223 ammo is not cheap either.

Blueman is fun. Good music and visuals. Went a couple times in Vegas at the Luxor. Nice show. Something everyone can enjoy.
