Deciding on carpet...

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I'm confused by the few mentions of Royalty Carpet I've seen on TI. I just called them and they don't service the public. Is there a different Royalty Carpets in Irvine?

Weird.

Their factory is on red hill, but they do not sell directly to public, I actually drove there to get some samples but was told to check with Tompkins, kinda weird I walked onto their factory floors, surprised I wasn't thrown out!

What hidden costs are out there for carpet install? I've been quoted all over the place, and so far, it seems like New York Carpets is the lowest, at just under $1/sqft for removal/disposal of the old carpet, moving "regular furniture" aside, upgraded padding, and install of the new stuff. That's significantly lower than many of the other smaller shops I've looked at... I don't want to sound like a shill, but I preferred the shopping experience there (more laid back, less "sales-y"). Their laminate and tile installation seemed a little higher than market though...

I think NY Carpets saves because they don't have to worry about warranty issues on the carpet... and most of their inventory is leftover product.

I also went with them because they were the cheapest, I put them against a couple other places with a similar carpet and they were at least 30% less.

And there were no hidden fees during the install... the guy even put carpet in two of the closets that weren't on the original estimators diagram.
