hopefully they come to agreement with VISA or something.  I don't like having too many credit cards.. let alone a store credit card.

I hope they don't go to a store card only model. I would prob just quit Costco if they did. We don't go there that much anyway.

I doubt they would do that, they already have a setup where your costco card is also a charge card.  Visa and MC gonna be hungry for the exclusivity.  Maybe give Discover another go?

Oh, darn it, there goes my cash back that I use for discretionary spending  ;D  Hope Capital One will give good cash back too.  Apprarently CapitalOne Share Builder Accounts through Costco now provides discounted trades, like $2 for automatic investment and $4.95 for normal trades

Reading the link, speculation is they will go exclusive with Capital One like Costco Canada did.

So that probably means you can use Visa or MC as long as it's a Capital One branded card. I don't know how the Canada deal works... maybe some Canuck here does ay?

Sad to hear this news. I love my AMEX cash back card. Does anyone know if they will continue accepting debit cards? I prefer using credit cards over debit cards but would hate to get another card just to shop at Costco.

great. we shop at Costco all the time but don't use AMEX and was thinking about signing up one to get the cash back. But now more reason to wait until the dust settles (and more time for my credit score to recover for doing back to back refi)

I like AMEX, the 2% eating out cashback is a must, and the 3% gas cashback is a no brainer

Amazon visa card has 2% for eating out (3% for Amazon purchase -- that's our main use really).
For the gas cashback, we have a bunch of those rotating categories card (Chase freedom, discover etc).. Most of the  time, there would be at least one card that would offer 5% cashback on gas (and sometimes on eating out)

wow you guys are good at keeping track of the cashback offers.  I have an AMEX SPG that I use for everything and anything.

you got $4.95 / trade ? I have a sharebuilder account through costco and trade is $5.95 ($1 less than normal) .. guess I don't have big enough equity to qualify for $4.95 :(

Same here on the Amex SPG. Another sign bones and I were meant to be. We will probably do a 10-14 day trip in Europe this summer and won't have to pay for any of the hotels.

oops, my bad.  It is $5.95 unless you have the Advantage Account.
