<p>By the way, I tried the freshly roasted wholefood reserve expresso blend last week from the Tustin District store. I didn't like it at all. It tasted burned...A million miles away from my BlackCat. </p>

If your tastebuds are not coffee snobs, you could look into a Senseo or similar product. They offer easy clean up, too.
 
I've had Jamaican Blue, and you nailed it - good but fairly strong.





I think blue is right that Dunkin' is still an east coast kind of thing...had I not lived back east for a few years, I probably never would have even tried the coffee or noticed when they started selling it in stores out here. I'm glad I did. It's interesting how Dunkin' has positioned themselves - kind of the anti-Starbucks since they try to appeal to a more working-class crowd who want a quick cup of coffee and aren't as big into the "coffee house ambiance." I don't care who they're trying to have drink their coffee though - I like it.

<p>The trick with iced drinks is to hold out most of the milk until after you've mixed the chocolate and espresso. Living in Seattle, you would think I skip making my own coffee drinks but I have a Krups machine with a steam bar and I enjoy creating new drinks for the wife. When I make any iced drink, I pour the espresso into the cup first, add whatever syrups/chocolate I am using, and a splash of milk, then stir it until blended. Then I add ice and cold milk and send her off to work in our porch garden.</p>

<p>Starbucks coffee is hit and miss, depending on your tastes and what they are serving. Dunkin Donut and MickeyD's have replaced their "bottom of the roasting room floor" brand with actual coffee, but it's not that much better than fresh Folgers.</p>

IMO, the best one cup coffee maker are those by Capresso or Saeco. Capresso's superautomatices (grind, make, dump) are all made in Swiss, and Saeco i think are an italy brand. I am not as impressed by Saeco. I bought my Capresso from william sonoma 4.5 years ago, and I love it!!!

<p>In order to get a shot quickly, the steam pressure has to already be ready to go. Unfortunately, almost all home machines need time to get the water heated to pressure. I generally heat the water first, steam up the milk, turn off the machine and let the steam pressure die down before switching out the "steam only" plate for the espresso basket, then turn the machine back on and get my double shot. There are few machines that pre-heat the water and avoid my complicated process and will hold the pre-heated the water until you are ready, but they are spendy little things. <p>My favorite coffee is out of my Keurig machine. My favorite is German Chocolate Cake and Southern Pecan Pie coffee!! I also like the some of the tea flavors like Mango and Passion. The best part is that it costs me about .50 a cup!! My starbucks bill is about 1/2 since I got the machine.</p>

123 - Are you using expresso and an espresso grind? Sorry, I do not know why it would taste burnt.<p>

After we buy a home, I plan on getting one of those copper espresso machines.

Ya, my $2500 cappresso has built in grinder. What I bought from Whole Food is the whole food expresso beans...Maybe the gal behind the counter did a bad job on that batch. She looked really young, and has colorful hair.

Oh gawd... here I go with my useless facts. Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is not what it once was. Most of the coffee trees there got a nasty disease, and had to be chopped down. They were replanted with crappy robusta beans and not the high quality arabica beans. There are a few farms with the original plants, but they are few and far between, and the majority is exported to Europe, France specifically. Most of what you get here in the US is the garbage that would go into a can of Yuban, or a blend which defeats the purpose. You can find pure Blue Mountain coffee, but I would be suspect. I know that Peets Coffee carried for a short time, and how I learned about the history this was from Alfred Peet. I am not bragging, I just lived in the Bay area and went to the right Peets at the right time.
