OH, NO!!! WAIT! HANG ON!! We did not meet on *THAT* job. That is not what I meant. I was never in that line of work! She wasn't working as a prostitute anymore when we met...

Well. Kind of. She was one of my boss's many paid, temporary "girlfriends". Same thing. Anyway, she got into it while working the floor in a Vegas casino. Customers ask for & expect good times. She didn't think that was part of the job description. It's not supposed to be. But in reality, it is. The managers enforced it. Show the customer a good time. She felt she had no choice and was threatened with job loss, so she did. Then she began working that side more and more. Until she couldn't take it anymore and left. Hooked up with you-know-who. He took care of her. She took care of him. He gave her an easy "busy work" job. I trained her. He would pay the girls with boob jobs, condos, cars, and drunken yacht parties. She was actually a very sweet lady, though. Loved her dearly. Not an airhead bimbo like the rest of 'em I had to deal with. Just got mixed up in a bad situation. Some crazy stories there! This guy is a notorious Newport Beach playboy. I shouldn't name names, though. Anyways! Just wanted to clear up any confusion!!

Pat I don't need to point out the positives of Asians, I'll let the main stream media do that.. seeing as they are the model minority.

I often ask successful people, hey, what did you do to be so successful... one very wise mentor corrected me; he said, instead of asking me what I did to be successful, ask instead; what did I have to give up in order to be successful...

We only see the success from the outside, the nice house, the car, the stuff; but we don't see what it took to get there, sleepless years, the divorces, the estranged wives, the shattered relationships, the emotional damages that will leave a legacy of disFUNction in the family for generations.

Sure the Asians are great.. but at what cost?  Seems like millions are lining up to sell their souls everyday...

Going back a bit to the original topic, LiMao & KeQi are at the very best awkward social customs that enforces being fake & disingenuous.. sure it might make living in a neighborhood full of Asians feel aloof, strange and distant but U'll live...

At worst, it is a custom that when used by VERY intelligent, skilled, psychopaths (by every definition) can manipulate the typical studious, socially awkward Asian to do very stupid, dangerous things.

I'm just saying... your typical white neighbor, would probably won't even know what hit their kids... living safely within suburbia...

By the way... these Asian psychopaths exist at the very top levels of corporate america..

The Asian culture works but it needs seriously reforms; Pat how does it feel to be Always on a Performance basis?  What in the world would you do if you lost your job, income, house...  I'm not about to say what your wife would do, but I've seen (Asian & White) but mostly Asian Dragon Ladies who would walk out faster than you can say, what the F***!

Asian kids are put under the performance GUN from DAY ONE!

These kids are cracking under pressure and you'll see more and more of the carnage...

Similar to Socal, my wife would stick by me through tick and thin... I also have no doubt that she would sleep under a bridge with me, she is loyal, caring and gives without any expectation of anything back.

She is by no means "low maintenance"; but lets just say, she hasn't worn make-up in over 10-years and her current purse that she uses everyday costs $10 and she has worn it for the past 5 years!

I can give her the best LV crap out there, but she doesn't want it...

Liberating isn't it...?  Feel that..?  That chains are free... Think of how it would feel to not be judged by how well you do, but just to be loved?  How do you think it will feel to just love and give without ANY strings?

That my friend, is what I've been preaching, saying, and trying to do... and wherever we settle down... that is what we will be welcoming into our house...

By the way... Pat, I don't know what kind of "arrangement" you and you wife have... but why do you feel the need to visit, titty bars such as Cafe Lu.. and why does your wife let you do to these places?

your cursory generalizations of Asians make you not only sound ignorant, but racist.

Have you not seen Real Housewives of OC?? Have you not been to any of the coastal cities? There are plenty of Caucasian women who would bolt as soon as the husband/boyfriend loses his job, income, house!!

I'm NOT religious... I hate religion; Religion is the KeQi of having a relationship with God... I do wish my pastor would cuss sometimes..

I think PatStar works up his appetite at CafeLu coffee but goes home for the real delicious dessert!

Yeah, the dessert that is a highly educated Manager at a Big 4 accounting firm, who on her own can afford to buy all her OWN louie, bottega, gucci, or hermes with her OWN 6 figure salary.  The dessert who doesn't need me for anything, except to complete each others lives.  What do you know about that, roundcorners?  You hate on people who have what you don't, those that are focused on success in both life and career because you are so personally lost you do not know how or where to even start in achieving "everything" in life.

Just like IHS says about the "everything" home, it is possible to have an everything life.  You CAN have career success, family success, and even give back to your communities.  Do you know that we bring our child to community activities?  Do you know we paint houses in inner city los angeles?  do you know we volunteer at the food bank la?  Do you know we donated more money than you probably make in a month to the Hsi Lai Temple this year? I bet you don't, do you.  All you see is a dragon lady with an LV bag, and husband who MUST be only a paycheck to her, and a child who will know nothing about "real" life because they surely live in a bubble.

Extrapolate what you DON'T know about my life to ALL the people you are judging, RC --- and you might start to grasp how little you really know.  And you know what, that is ok --- because all you need to know about is yourself.  What others are doing has no bearing on your life.  Focus on what is important, you and your family.  Don't worry about any of us, we don't need you.  Really.

And there goes a billable hour.

this thread is just sad.  its beyond me how this is turning into an attack on pstar and others.  no one really knows anyone from a simple observation.  you can make generalizations all you want but at end of day, its up to you to learn about the other person

rc - you are convinced about your view and thats fine.  but please dont try to convince us on your view...its preaching and not even positive preaching...actually its hate mongering.

Frankly, Zovall --- I'm surprised you have continued to allow roundcorners to return to TI (and IHB before that) to to sprew his hateful world view over and over.  It is sad, as rkp points out.

Zovall is a GREAT person - a class act. The style of this forum doesn't have to work for everyone but it does have to work for him. Keeping people happy here ain't as easy as it looks, take it from me. We are all allowed autonomy to put our Big Kid Pants on and solve problems together when the time is right for us. (There's even been times I was very unhappy and wanted a break but would never lay that on his shoulders. He does the best he can with what he has.) If you're going to point the finger at anyone, then please do point it at me instead of him. I requested he keep this format. I can't have him taking blame when he's only tried to oblige me and everyone here so we can still have a forum, period. I am very thankful for his help in keeping TI going. If you got any questions, then hey, I'm pretty much an open book & happy to help. Grill me. I'm ready.  ;) We're all allowed a break now and then. That said, I do hope you'll return again in the future when the time is right for you.

You know, as I re-read some of the posts of this individual, they smack of a very unstable human being.  There are even references to crimes and violence.  At a minimum, the continued hate mongering is not something I want to associate with.  I regret engaging this unstable person. Frankly, Zovall --- I'm surprised you have continued to allow roundcorners to return to TI (and IHB before that) to sprew his hateful world view over and over.  It is sad, as rkp points out.

Reflecting on my engagement with RC --- it truly is not a good idea.  We are only so anonymous in this world, and I can't take a risk of engaging with an unstable person.  I wouldn't engage someone on the street corner ranting hateful comments, and as such it is just as bad an idea on the internet.  Until RC is gone, I'm done here.  Maybe that's forever, but I can't participate in a forum that allows that message.

rkp and iho -- best of luck, i've needled you guys about homes, but you know it is only in the interest of making sure you consider every alternative like i did.  whatever you settle on, it will be right because of your due diligence.

ihs -- thanks for all the advice, both direct and indirect. you gave me the tools to make the right choice.

ir2 -- you are a great realtor and a better friend.

And to all others, best of luck.  I'm outta here, and clearing my history.  No internet board is worth engaging someone making these suggestions.  Period.

patrick - dont leave on account of RC.  and as bad as this thread is, RC provides tons of interesting posts on tech

i think he is just having a real hard time with his move to irvine and really needs to sit down with his wife and a have a heart to heart

i know you are trying to help me and IHO see the light... :)

Pat, I am sorry; please come back.  I didn?t mean to push your buttons like that.  I did get carried away.  As always you have given me a lot of think about.

It?s funny how you mention my mental state; and if anyone hasn?t caught on by now; I am a manic depressive.  I?m not on meds or anything, but I have had my stays at the institutions (good times...)

In my book, you are one of the few people on Earth that can bring me back to the sad realization that I just don?t belong here, I guess I never belong anywhere.  The truest part of me really isn?t meant for this world; it?s not like I?m suicidal (thanks Socal) it?s just I will also be blue living (here).  I?ve always said that I?m the biggest misfit of all.

I am sorry for bringing everyone down; I know, most of you are quite happy in your daily existences, and I don?t want to take that away.  I will continue to wake up every day, take my orders and do the best I can?

Okay... maybe I should replace the word "religious" with "Christian".

Your behavior still seems like a dichotomy to me.

You obsess over your Android phone(s) yet you hate materialism... you're making me cross-eyed.

Obssession over one phone is not materialistic.  Changing phones when a new model comes out then is materialism when the old one still works.

Blasphemy!!!

I'll await your return... I think you hold the record boomeranging with anonymous internet forums.  ;)

(besides... as long as I'm not on Facebook... this is the only way you can keep tabs on your 3CWG broham)

In Jean M. Auel's "Earth's Children" book series, the main character, Ayla, is an orphaned Cro-Magnon adopted & raised by a band of Neanderthals.  After she left the Neanderthals and went back to living with Cro-Magnons, she had difficulty with communication because the Neanderthals that she grew up with communicated with limited "visual language" that was direct and honest.  The Cro-Magnons had more complex language and society where communication were sometimes indirect, deceptive, or came with ulterior motives.

In East Asia (and elsewhere), people sometimes communicate their wishes indirectly and expect you to realize their intent, or what they've said does not necessarily equate to the literal meaning.  For example, customer service in Japan may apologize to a customer, but the apology simply means that the person is sorry that you have been inconvenienced.  It does not mean the employee takes responsibility.

When I was going out with a girl in Taipei, she took me to "NY Bagels" for breakfast, where the menu proudly states that they import Bagles directly from New York (frozen and shipped over by air).  It was quite silly considering how common bagels are in Los Angeles, but her intent was to say that she would be willing to come to the US and eat bagels (or pancakes or breakfast burritos) for breakfast, should our relationship develop to that extent.  Indirect speech through her actions.  I did not understand this and had to be told afterwards.

One of the worst performance reviews that I've ever gotten from work stated that I had no trouble accompolishing tasks that have been defined, but I have trouble with tasks that are not well defined or undefined.  My boss (non-Asian) does not always tell me what I need to do or forward e-mails with critical information to me.  It's my job to talk to people around the office across multiple floors every day and realize what is going on, what needs to be done, and how to do it.  If I cannot do this, then my boss gets mad at having to do "hand holdng" to give me instructions.

An unpolished stone has character in its own way, but it rarely sparkles the same as a successfully polished one.
