Children Not Welcome at Greenwood

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program

Of course the subject line is dramatic--that's the  point in getting people to read the thread 😀

Greenwood has every right to close their park to the public but it's a marketing failure. If your trying to attract young families with kids (and dogs too), then closing the park could be one less positive experience to finalize a sale.

Buyers have many choices and I don't see other new home communities closing their parks.

i remember going to pavillion park in the summer of 2013 and seeing the playground, our daughter was an infant but if she was older and wanted to go on the swings or whatever they have there and they said it was closed i would have thought absolutely nothing of it.

Just like **if** your daughter was like that 2yo boy who got numerous puncture wounds from a coyote.... you woulda thought nothing of it right?  :)

I'm not a buyer here but reading this thread about the park being closed has deterred me from visiting. Hard to sell my kids on model home tours (times 4) without a park to play at for a few mins before & after. That being said, since I'm not a buyer, I guess StanPac couldn't give two shits about me not gracing them with my presence.

When I read the subject line of this post, I thought it was that children weren't welcome at the models.

First, I think you're being a bit dramatic by saying they're not welcome. It seems to me they're just not welcome to take advantage of a playground where they're not residents (yet). I have no problem with that.

I do wish that builders would ban children, though, from their models. Most kids are utterly bored with model home viewing and are dragged along by their parents. Some kids are well-behaved (mostly absorbed by their iPads or whatever is playing on the TV). Others run around from room to room screaming, jump on beds, etc and are just generally nuisances. Certainly, this is the fault of the parents for dragging them along and for not teaching them proper behavior in such settings. I'm sure that children cause a lot of damage to model homes. Frankly, my dog is better-behaved than many children, yet most model homes won't allow my dog in (except for TNHC, where my dog is always welcome).

Actually if you want to ban kids from model homes, then the builder should open the park. Often times, we take turns going in to quickly look at the models while the other stays with the kids at the park.

cmon man, you dont seriously think someone would not buy there because the park is closed? really?

Purchasing a home is a complex process and customers take many factors into consideration. So yes, a closed park may be one negative aspect among many to push a buyer away.

I can't swim at any of the new irvine community pools when I check out the models..wouldn't stop me from buying. As long as I have access to the facility when I own the home, it really doesn't matter to me. I do agree w/Bones though, that if the park was their, it would make it easier for me and the family to go look at the houses (as their is something for kids to do while each parent wanders through).

Good point! If it keeps the kids out of the models, open the park!

Mrs. IR2 and I registered clients at Greenwood and brought IR2.1 and IR2.2 with us at their opening weekend.
We must have gotten in under the radar because my boys had a blast at the park.

initially it was open, if not open then there were no signs and/or security guards to indicate it was closed. i took my daughter several times after the opening weekend.  there had to be some catalyst for the closure. my guess is some kid took a dive and the parent complained to Stan Pac.

I went there during the grand opening.

What do you expect? There's a zip line in the playground, the slide area has a steep hill (I almost lost my balance climbing the hill, there is a walk way to the side but I didn't go that way)

Just put a fence around the playground area and use the same card for the pool.

i agree, but then your fellow TI'ers will just complain about that. how dare they prevent the kids from playing. the folks complaining just make it seem like they changed their mind for no apparent reason.

I think someone saw you leave with your daughter and they thought one of the landscapers just kidnapped an FCB kid so they had to lock it down. :)

I think something happened @ the playground. I have never seen a builder deny/keep a close eye on the playground.

None of this would have happened if Greenwood was under the OC forum. I think the playground is cursed by the Irvine cemetery. Should have hung out with the inmates instead.

I think the kid pissing on the plants by the model home bathroom is the reason.
