Yup, it's all about the mileage. The Cooper S was a contender but I eliminated it on the grounds that those cars seem to disassemble themselves in interesting and imaginative ways, if the owners rants on NAM are any indication. Plus the extra 5-6k it would've cost.

I love a high power to weight ratio but I think you, me, and the rest of us are going to get our acceleration G-force love spanked out of us by resource depletion in the not too distant future.

The bright side is that when Effenmoto falls apart (it's getting close), I'll have room for a crotchrocket again. 100+mph quarter miles with 40+mpg.

It's interesting to note that the Fit is sold in almost every country on earth. North America gets the largest, most powerful, and most thirsty engine out of five. Yet we think it's underpowered. We don't know just how good we have it here.

Graphrix:

A couple of my new favorites at the moment are the new Audi A5/S5 and also the newly released Lexus IS-F. I love BMW, but after owning both an E46 M3 and an E90, I feel that the E46 was much more of a driver-oriented car.

Eh, I have to say... I like Audis, but they are no match for the bimmers. Here is a ruthless review of the S5. When I was looking for my E36, I looked at the S4 and the A6 turbo, (manual of course), and all either had blown turbos, or near blown turbos. Not a bad thing, as I would want to swap the turbo for a better one, but the price still wasn't low enough to justify it. I agree with the article, and I would take the AWD E90, and boost the crap out of the turbo. All an S5 would see is the tail lights. I am sure in the next few months, a used E90 will be cheap if the maintenance warranty has been voided. Part of the premium cost paid is for the nick knack maintenance warranty.

And, the IS-F is hawt, but I don't care if the paddle shifters are faster than I can ever shift, I need a manual to be manual. And, then really, is it an M3 killer? Mmmm... I bet the subtle, non-street racer mods, will blow the IS-F away. Yeah, kinda bimmer biased.

The best part... ROFL for the youtube vid, in Irvine of all places.

Hmm... you sound like a total enthusiast, Graphrix! What are you currently driving and what kind of cars have you worked on? I'm a huge BMW fan, but I appreciate all cars on different levels. Do you ever go to the track or canyon runs? If so, you should join my friends and I sometime. :)

I don't know you guys...bimmers seem cool and all, but I'm pretty partial to this car:

Graphix,

I'm just waiting till the tuners get ahold of the BMW-135 and go crazy with it. Big exhaust, cleaned up intake and more boost&tune should have the car running pretty sweet. My only concern is that they have already extracted the power out of it and there is little room left. Still a smaller, lighter car should be lots of fun.

Otherwise all these cars are kinda slow.... Expecially once the 7.0Lsupercharged motor goes in (up form 5.6L supercharged motor). 700HP? anyone?

good luck

bix,

Go to page 6 for AC Schnitzer's upgrades.

Graphix,

While it looks great, only upping the hp to about 300ish rwhp is going to put you in contention with most other pony cars. The 135 is still a heavy little car though... once it gets down 3000ish lbs i'm sure it be quite a rocket!

A sad day in OC car land...

O.C. hot-rod legend Coddington dies at 63.

I've know Boyd since I was a little kid. He was truly a pioneer in what he did. He may have been an asshat, and went through some tough times, but there was a lot more to the man than what you saw on TV.

Hey graph - Linky did not work on my puter. What did Coddington die of? When? Yesterday? Sheeshz, he seemed young to me.

Here's something to keep in mind, before you buy a new car...

Due in 2009, the KIA Soul.....

The only problem is, it's a KIA.

You're right bix, it's a Mini Cooperrrr at the front and Scion xB at the back...

Nissan are also introducing a little Box, I think it's called the Cube...

I wonder how much KIA will be asking for the Soul?

I'd bet around 17K. There's nothing wrong with the quality of the Koreans anymore.

Mrs. Vaseline has a 2008 Toyota Rumion (formerly an 2008 Scion XB before I started working on it). I think I have all the JDM parts except for the front clip.

I need advice for leasing a convertible. Initial thoughts are 200+ hp, manual, 4 seater & luxury.

I'm looking for the 128i, 328i, A4, or TT.

I want a manual transmission and as far as I know the Audi don't offer that...I might get an automatic, still unsure.

Another problem for the Audi is that they release a new model later in the year.

200hp is fine for me, so no need for Audi 3.2 or 135/335 for BMW.

BMW lease offer is 20% more expensive than A4 even though the car is only 10% more expensive...this is pissing me off as I would prefer the BMW.

Please talk me out of the Saab 9-3. 350z is not my time, if I get a two seater it will be the TT, not the Z4 either.

Mercedes out of my price range.

Is there somthing I am not thinking of?

Thanks!

The 350z sucks and handles worse. The Saab sucks in other ways.

I have a disdain for the Audi I can't describe, but on a lease I guess it's okay. I wouldn't own one, and I don't lease cars.

If it were me, I'd go for the BMW 335 because I want the horsepower.
