I think I get it.

Since OS can't understand why people will pay the prices at Laguna Altura when it does not have the same amenities as other Irvine villages, he can't understand why people would pay the prices in Irvine if they don't use the amenities it has over other cities (ie the schools).

It's okay, people do value other things, this is America.

And, the reasons why a businessman builds homes in Irvine doesn't necessarily reflect *all* the reasons why people buy in Irvine.

You keep trying to make it one thing... when it's not.

Again, if you isolate out just "good schools", there has to be other reasons why people buy in Irvine or else it's just like any other city in the OC that has good schools. You're too caught up in your own opinion that you are not bothering to even address any others.

Again... why do people who don't use the schools buy in Irvine? Or are you going to link to some inconclusive site and claim that only makes up a "sliver" of the population again?

Nice try. I never said schools was the one reason. Not once. I said it was the main reason, and it tracks with Haddad's statement.

Hell, you went so far as to say schools as a reason to move to Irvine"wasn't ready for primetime!"
You need to re-read. 1) I said "the only reason" in regards to prime time not "a reason", 2) You were the one that said people are buying in Irvine for the schools, otherwise they should buy elsewhere.

I was the one who said that there are many other reasons and that while schools may be the main reason for many, it's not for everyone (or "most" as you like to put it)... and to prove it... I said: NOT EVERYONE WHO BUYS IN IRVINE HAS KIDS SO HOW CAN THEY BE BUYING FOR THE SCHOOLS? And yet no retort other than more rhetoric about "the schools".

Don't try to backtrack. Just admit it... no matter how many times you quote the 5 Points superstar, it doesn't track with the logic of just  "for the schools" because the other reasons are just as (and moreso for some) important.

And again, why are people who don't use the schools buying in Irvine? Answer the question and it will set you free.

It's pretty awesome that Emile Haddad repeated, nearly verbatim, my position. Your little anecdotes are kindof meaningless in the face of the bank 5Point is investing on the belief that schools are the primary driver for folks buying in Irvine.

Sortof like my hard-on for Northpark doesn't mean shit vs. the FCB cash chasing Laguna Altura.

Pot, meet kettle.

I said an example that supports IHOs position. I wasn't asserting anything else. I actually believe most families that buy in irvine do so dm for schools. But I also have a rationale thought process which you usually do as well except for when it comes to Laguna altura

Dude, more expensive doesn't mean "better." I referenced multiple examples where that clearly isn't the case.

Dude, what is better is subjective 100% of the time. So while u think you gave examples of what is better it's better to YOU. The example I gave is not subjective but based in fact that supports IHOs reasons.

The examples to which I'm referring include the $62k Land Rover Evoque, $11k Air Jordans and the $666 cheeseburger. Better? Hardly. Objectively or otherwise.

just let it go man, its starting to get sad.

@OS:

You need to step back and stop trying to prove you are infallible and just look at the facts. You keep saying that I don't factor in the schools but I have, multiple times. What I am saying is that it's NOT. JUST. THE. SCHOOLS and that for a significant portion of the population, IT'S. NOT. THE. SCHOOLS. BECAUSE. THEY. DON'T. HAVE. KIDS.

You then take that and say that you never said it's just the schools but then every other qualifying statement you post says "People should only buy in Irvine for the schools" and "Most people buy in Irvine for the schools" and "There is only a small percentage of people who buy in Irvine not for the schools and they are overpaying". So which way is it?

This is just like how you kept saying an EV is prime time and then we said that can't be true because for that to happen, an EV has to be your main car (after you admitted that an EV is the secondary car). Then you waffled on what the definition of "prime time" means.

I won't continue on this discussion if you are going to go the Tyler route and start using vulgarities in your counter points. If you really think Irvine is a "$#!+-box" then you are the one who overpaid because everything else other than the schools is worthless to you (which you've stated more than once, which leads to your whole opinion of "just the schools").
